    I see no difference between it and mpeg1

    You know, I'd like to know that too. bbMpeg is free ware, it has mpeg2 encoding.

    Then again TMPG is on it's way to becoming a commercial app.

    But if I had to pay for something I'd want it to at least work correctly

    it was made intentionally easy to defeat though, and he tries to release a new one within 30 days. there's only one registry key you need to remove, and someone posted what it is somewhere in the forums. so just delete it and you're back on your way.
