When I import my S200 footage (MXP/24mps/30p) into Final Cut Pro 7, my sequence defaults to the footage specs, which is fine. The issue I have is that when I look at the sequence spec's it's set on "1920x1080 - 60i (16:9)". Shouldn't it just be "1920x1080" progressive wihout the interlacing? Am I reading this incorrectly? Any guidance is appreciated.

Interesting. For what ever reason I can't find anything in the HF S200 manual that indicates it's 60i. Isn't it suppose to be true 1080p? OR is that indeed true 1080p?

Found this on the web: "In addition to the standard interlaced video frame rate of 60i, you may choose to set the VIXIA HF S200 to capture video in 30p Progressive Mode, (30 progressive frames, recorded at 60i)"

So, NO, it doesn't truly do 60p. "1080p" could be 1080p30 or 1080p60 (it OUGHT to just be 1080p60). Obviously, marketing folks want to make you THINK it's 1080p60, even when it isn't.

it's like the canon HDV cams. it records 1080p30 but in a 60i wrapper. it takes 2 fields to put back together 1 progressive frame. if there is a way to tell your editing program to process it as 30p try it. but whatever you do don't de-interlace it. in vegas and premiere you right click on the file and interpret footage as progressive. no ides in fcp7.

Sony calls this type of format "PsF" (Progressive, Segmented-Frame).
