  1. My requirement/conclusion may looks funny, but I do not have any other option except the below one. Please let me know your suggestions.

    Requirement:

We have several DVDs and we need them in MP4 format (for playing on different devices/streaming). Also, we want to upload them to YouTube.

We want to keep one master copy of MP4 and then add watermark to it before uploading to YouTube and publishing for streaming.

We want to save the Mp4s as 720p (upscaled). This may not be good, but due to some marketing issues, we need to have them as HD videos on YouTube.

    Issues:

The DVDs are from different vendors - so they are with different frame rate, some are widescreen and some are not, some have DD 5.1 etc.,

Some have partial interlaced content and some have full interlaced content.

The content is devided into different titles (also into chapters). When we prepare MP4, we should have all the titles stitched together.

Another big issue - The audio track has a delay and starts after few seconds of the video. Due to this, many of the encoders are not able to provide good MP4 output (some have a/v sync issues and some are not producing audio stream in the output).

We have to convert 500+ DVDs in one month time with less resources.

    My conclusion:

We were able to get great MP4 with HandBrake, but we do not have option to add watermark/select multiple titles/upscaling etc.,

So, we are planning to play the DVD on Blu ray player (which has progressive output) and record the output using Hauppauge HD PVR/BlackMagic (through component in). After this, we will have master MP4 file with 720p content.

Then, we will add watermark and encode again as per our required bit rate.

    Thank you for your time!

I'd love to know what kind of foolishness you got yourself into so that you HAVE to do this in one month...

    But anyway...

You might try Xvid4PSP. I think it can accept AviSynth input which would let you add a watermark. And you can play with the settings to get what you want as output more than with Handbrake or you could just resize via AviSynth if I am correct that it can accept this as input.

I have the Hauppauge Colossus (same hardware more or less as HD PVR) and unless I am missing something you cannot set the output resolution. Your DVDs will record as standard DVD resolution (720x480 for NTSC or 720x576 for PAL). I'm not really seeing this as a viable option here.
