I bought a BLUray movie the other day and gave it to a friend to rip it for me(i don't know how to do these kind of stuff)
I use a pretty simple and cheap editing program that fulfills my needs called Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11... My problem is that when I insert this file in vegas, both the preview screen and the trimmer turn completely green instead of showing the actual movie.
anyone knows what the problem is? I'll let you some info on the file btw i already enabled H.264/AVC inn ffdshow
    Thanks guys!

  2. This is not a "rip", it's a re-encode using 10bit AVC .

Vegas doesn't support 10bit AVC , nor does vegas use ffdshow for decoding video MP4 container

  3. If you rip it with anydvd hd, then import the .m2ts files, vegas should be able to open it if the original blu-ray used MPEG2 or AVC compression. It will not open VC-1 blu-rays

Instead of ripping, I use the Hauppage HDPVR to record it in realtime at whatever bitrate level I want. The recording is AVC/AAC or "H.264", just like the rip, but lighter on system resources, so you can use it right away in Vegas.

OR, you can transcode it to Mpeg2, AVI, or whatever, with Handbrake, for your other devices. And you might want to record whatever else is playing on your TV, or coming out of some internet box, ahem.

Also, rentals are only 24hrs. Far too short a time frame. You want to get your dollar's worth, right?

PDR already answered your question, but since you're in to Vegas and movies, it doesn't hurt to be prepared for the future.

Have your friend re-reencode the movie to a format you can use.
    Have a good one,
