I have access to all major MAC video editing apps. Premiere, Motion, After Effects. Dont use them as much, but out of necessity to complete a commissioned work, I need to pick one and learn.

Here is exactly what I am trying to create:

  2. After Effects. Break out the manual. Pay special attention to particles, precompositions, keyframe interpolation and camera layers. If you're starting from scratch as you imply, you have a LOT of learning to do.

And you can't beat the Color Finesse plugin that comes with After Effects for color and levels correction

+1. Just wish the "normal" curves effect had scopes for the really simple stuff.

hmm, just tried opening levels and curves together and the levels histogram responds to the curves manipulation. Thanks Sanlyn.

    There's virtually nothing "video" here.
It's all rendered artwork in 3D software, or in compositing software (like AE).

I don't know much about Motion.
AE is a good tool, though not sure if it can do 100% of what you saw here.
Premiere is a great NLE, but utterly useless for this project. Wrong tool.
