That's only a problem if you live in America or Europe and bought the player there.....but since we have no idea where you live nobody here can help.

For now id even say as regards the bluray issue i wont really bother much cos my ps3 (US region) plays most of the bluray discs in my library.. its still much of a surprise to me right now though that this new 3Dbluray hometheater system is restricted cos i thought they said bluray discs are not region locked, and the specs of this system on their website didnt say its region locked!
I guess the fix for the dvd playback right now would suffice, i was told theres usually a remote key combination that can be used to unlock multiregion playback on most LG systems.. i can only hope there is one for this system.
The LG HT806TQ i used to have actually plays all my region 1&2 DVDs without a hitch, so i never expected this new one i bought to be region locked, this is just downright annoying cos the system specs on their website:
( http://www.lg.com/ae/home-entertainment/home-theater-systems/LG-HX906TX.jsp ) says the system supports playback of NTSC & PAL DVDs.

BluRay discs can be region locked, but it's not a requirement. It's enforced less than DVD region locking on discs, which is also optional.
Actually most BluRay players CANNOT be unlocked. There may or may not be some kind of unlock code for yours, but it's wrong to assume to that just any old player can be unlocked.
If you really bought this in the country where you live then it's defective and you need to take it back where you bought it. But you're still not telling us where you bought it, so I'm guessing maybe you bought it in the UK and you got burned.
BluRay's licensing agreement specifically forbids manufacturers from making BluRay players region free even for just DVD playback. Now having said that it is known that SOME players (but not most) can be unlocked for region free DVD playback only. Usually players in home theater systems CANNOT be unlocked. Any specialty player, which includes combo players (DVD/VCR), portables, car stereo and home theater players, has always been almost impossible to unlock even years ago when it was fairly common to be able to unlock standalone DVD players. -
I bought the unit directly at the LG flagship store in nigeria. i even got a free 3D Bluray movie disc after the purchase which plays quite ok. its somewhat hard to tell which region a BD is particularly from cos i rarely see it labelled on the discs unlike dvds where u see "1" or "2" etc, though i once read that BDs are either region A, B, or C., but it appears this BD movie is from uk or som eur region.
Most of the bluray discs i bought in the US didn't playback on this system, so im assuming its locked to either uk or maybe some other region.,
As for the dvd playback, the system wont play the DVDs i bought from the US (which i think are NTSC Region1) and neither the ones i bought from the UK which i suppose are PAL region2, but plays other DVDs i have which are neither region1 nor 2.
I called the store back few days ago to complain, i was told their systems are region locked but the guy didnt say which region its locked to, probably not a techie but i expected him to be specific.. -
Just so you know, Nigeria and Ghana are in region 5 for DVD and region B (also sometimes called 2) for BluRay. The USA is in region 1 for DVD and region A/1 for BluRay. Most of Europe is in region 2 for DVD with the exception of Belarus, Ukraine and Russia who are in region 5. Europe is in region B/2 for BluRay except for Belarus, Ukraine and Russia who are in C/3.
Your other DVDs may not have region coding on them. Region coding is optional and some countries don't always use it.
