  1. Hey guys, I'm very new to Linux so apologies if this is a silly question.

I have a proprietary CCTV codec for Windows which i've managed to transcode video clips into other (open/generic) formats in my windows environment for test using AVISynch and FFMPEG. I would like to setup a scalable and elastic solution to do this on the fly, using Amazon EC2 in a linux environment. FFMPEg and AviSynch are available for Linus, but getting the proprietary codec to actually play is my issue. Is there a way I can take this proprietary VfW codec (dll file) from Windows and install it in Ubuntu? Any direction on this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Perhaps you can run it under WINE.
