  1. Hello,

I am new to the forum. Thanks for this free resource. My name is Timothy.

Also, forgive me if this is not in the right place. I'm not savvy in the jargon.

I currently have an interview series, and I want to record a video chat conversation
    we have online.

The two solutions I've tried are Oovoo and Skype.

Oovoo has been a serious disappointment. The audio and video are out of synch,
and it crashes a lot. And Skype requires a plug-in, and the plug-in has crashed
several times. Also, it doesn't allow the user to alter the size of their portion of
the video. The host of the conversation can only have a tiny little video of themselves.
I'm just not having an easy time figuring this out.

What would you recommend I do to capture an interview between two people
on their computers. (I myself have a laptop with built in mic and camera, as
well as a quality digital video camera and microphone; my guests have
varying equipment, usually just a built in mic and cam)

    Thank you,
    Timothy

  2. So you're interviewing someone? Are these cameras going to be stationary or moving?

Let me see if I understand you -- your final video would look like a video chat between two people -- something like this correct?

Do you really need to see the other person during the interview when you're talking to them? If not, you might want to consider just having an audio chat, but where both parties record their own video via the webcam in another program in as good of quality as possible and have them send you the file after the conversation is over. Then you can synch them up and edit them together into any configuration or size you want independent of the chat program you're using -- i.e. side by side, one video larger than the other, the same size, etc.
