    Good Morning Folks,

Im in the market for a new monitor. I prefer a 24' like the dell 2407 wfp I had. However, i cannt seem to find one so superior. I really enjoyed the pip/pbp functions as well as the ability to add a sound bar, and a built in usb hub. Is there any that can compare? Can you folks recommend one for me?

Hope to hear from yall soon.

Many complaints about bad color out of the box, requires calibration gear and even then the newer U2412 gets better press. Depends on how many toys you want to plug into these things.

I did not recommend the U2410 because of factory calibration. The U2410 is closer to what he has now, which seems to be what is important to him. It has some features that the U2412 doesn't have, but his previous monitor has, like Picture-In-Picture, component video, and composite video.

I saw complaints saying the U2412 suffers from uneven back lighting. A monitor can be re-calibrated, but uneven backlighting can't be corrected.

[Edit]If the ability to display color accurately is the most important factor, the U2410 wins. The U2412 has a 6-bit panel while the U2410 has a 8-bit panel.

Agreed, the feature set is closer to what he has now. The 2410 isn't nearly as close to accurate color as the 2407 was out of the box, so add the cost of a decent calibration kit -- which any serious user ought to have anyway. Out of the box and uncalibrated, 8-bit or 6-bit won't matter.

OTH, Dell is infamous for its front panel lottery and inconsistent QC (and so are many other brands at consumer-level prices). I think the O.P. just happened to get a sound copy of the product. I've been thru two Dell monitors, I have some PC clients who've been thru another handful of returns to Dell. But it seems those are problems that plague almost all of the "old" names nowadays.
