    Hey all!

i'm using mp4box and i need some help to get rid of these metadata/tag it writes to the file contaner.
it writes them to audio, video and subtitle:

    Code:
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.208
    Stream size : 154 MiB (88%)
    Title : ж©vÈ
     Writing library : XviD 1.1.0 Beta1 (UTC 2005-01-16)
    Encoded date : UTC 2010-05-10 20:10:18
    Tagged date : UTC 2010-05-10 20:10:21

  2. sorry, cant help you, but I am surprised you had found NO help here. I am also a newbie trying to find a simple tool to manage mp4, lately I have given up and commit to MKV containers, mp4 seems to concerned with money and politics, hollywood etc..

  3. and the tag issues are simply stupid

  4. in the end, I think mp4 is an Apple piece of something to challenge MS, mp3 is standard, wav and wmv also, layer 4 is not friendly and support is typically useless, bye bye mp4, MKV rocks!!!

  5. Ironically, Apple began as a GUI, and ended up as poohey, lol

  6. proprietary Apple culture is for the mass consumption, whereas MS culture is supporting the masses to find ways to consume

@ the OP: as a last resort, you may use a hex-editor to replace the offending text-strings with spaces
    (no, I didn't say it's an easy method, and I don't like to have to use it neither) ;

    @ milo77:

your comments are not entirely-truthful, and are quite unhelpful as well.

@milo77, maybe you should read a little history to get your facts straight.
For one thing, there is no such thing as "layer 4". MP3 is from MPEG1 (or2), Layer 3, but MP4 is from MPEG4. The actual audio codec is AAC (which is v2 of MPEG2.5-NBC).

@OP, I agree with El Heggunte, until such app gets created, you can always use a HEX editor, difficult though they may be. I wouldn't waste time holding your breath, doesn't seem to be many people wanting what you are wanting, so no programmer takers...

  9. To clear the question of the topic starter, I made a post in the gpac forum. (only asked about 'Encoded date' and 'Tagged date' since current mp4box versions do not add a title tag by default)
