playback duration problem after author dvd

I decrypt my dvds as backups from dvds i own and i join the vob files because they are like this video_ts_01 etc and i join them then i create the dvd in dvd flick and then i shrink the dvd and the duration is available of 8 hours but it only plays 2 hours which is annoying what is the term used for this problem so maybe i can solve it or fix it. I am trying to get my will & grace dvds onto 1 disc by shrinking to fit onto 1 dvd instead of having a big boxset with loads of discs making it easier for me. Any help i would be grateful thank you.

When you say before i go any further what would i go further on? I have no idea what i am doing yet i explained what i am doing i am decrypting my dvds and shrinking them i do know what i am doing dont be so arrogant and cocky i dont care how strong and tough you think you are or if your older then me just dont have the arrogance to say to me i dont know what i am talking about i do i just explained it the forum not to you to the forum you only replied with arrogance try replying to me again but this time without arrogance and show more respect when you reply to me again is that understood?. thank you.

Ok i do know what i am talking about i just told you look and read it properly try not to be so ignorant on choosing what you like to read and i am going to tell you again.

1. DVD decrypter i decrypt my dvds

2. I join the vob files because they ar elike this video_vts_01 something like that

3. Then i created the dvd with a total duration of 8 in a half hours playback

4. The problem is now read this dont ignore it dont sit with your mate on your computer reading this post and pulling your faces like oh my god he does not make anysense. The problem is the duration is onl playing back 2 hours instesd of the 8 hours playback however the filesize of the 8 hour playback is still there which is strange.

So do something about it.

If you REALLY knew what you were doing, step 2 would be unnecessary because it is possible to use DVD Decrypter to produce one giant VOB file rather than having to "join" them using some mystery program you won't identify. None of us are getting paid to help here and given your attitude I can tell already that you are one of those "I'm not going to listen to what you tell me" kind of people so I'm done here too.

I will tell you that your process is starting to go wrong at step 2. Our member jagabo has an endless amount of patience for bs. Maybe if you're lucky he'll get interested in this post and help you. As long as you don't insult him, he'll hold your hand for weeks to come if it takes it to help you out. But I'm done here after reading your posts.

Have you figured out that you just can't go around renaming VOB files yet?....or that you really should not be messing with VOB files at all and that you need to be looking at this from the VIDEO_TS folder and not the individual pieces inside?

Reply to Heck54 i am sorry if it seems i am shouting at you and having a go i didnt mean it the way you said you have no idea what i am talking about seems a bit silly instead of just saying to me can you explain your problem in more detail or can you give me more detail of your problem would of been alot nicer instead of i dont know what i am talking about.

I will try my hardest to explain in more detail.

1. I am using dvd decrypter to decrypt my dvds it works fine no errors no problems

2. I join the files together they are like this VTS_01_1 then VTS_01_2 and i join these files using vob merge to have the episode together the duration is about 20minuets etc each episode or some are 21 minuets

3. Then i am trying to join all the joined episodes as a whole dvd using vob merge so the duration should be around 8 hours but sometimes it vary one time it will say just play the 1 episode 21 minuets the other time it will play only 1 hour and 37 minuets and another time it will only play 6 hours and 20 minuets but it never plays the full 8 hours which is the total duration

4. All i need is something to fix the duration playback problem and i can carry on using dvd style to generate my dvd menu having all seasons 1-8 on one menu of will & grace something so simple but with problems surprise surprise.

I am sorry if i seemed rued and naughty its just you way of replying to my message for future reference just ask people for more detailed information of their problem no need for this "you dont know what your talking about" that doesnt help so be kind to learn from your mistakes thats all i am sorry for being rude and if it seemed i was shouting.

sounds like the gop timecode is messed up. you can either re-write them or use a different tool to join them. i'd suggest using vob2mpg as it will do the job and create a single mpeg-2 from the dvd. then re-author it.

Besides that....he is trying to squeeze an entire box set onto one DVD.

ok but it's still gop timecode problem. vob2mpeg can still correct it, it just takes a bit more work. take all the vobs and re-number them consecutively like vob_01_1, vob_01_2, vob_01_3, etc to the end. then run vob2mpeg in vob mode.

after that then he can re-encode to single dvd size. it'll look like crap but they are his eyes.
