Hi, I'm trying to do a vdeo conversion with Bigasoft AVS Video Converter and the Audio panel shows the source file Audio parameters. What is the best Audio Codec I should choose from the drop down menu for lossless (or close to lossless) audio conversion? Thanks

Thanks. I don't get it, it shows 0 kbps for the source audio bitrate?? When I choose PCM I'm forced to set it to 1411 kbps.

For lossless use the same format as the original, then it should simply copy the audio as-is.
Though it could decode and reencode anyway.
This will only work if your final format is compatible with the original audio format.
Rule of thumb otherwise is to use a bitrate slightly higher than the source.
Your screencap shows "Bitrate 0 kbps" which is obviously incorrect.
What are you converting to and from? -
There is no bitrate choice for PCM bitrate, because PCM is uncompressed audio. Why don't you copy the audio instead? Or does that software not give you the option? Why are you converting it in the 1st place ? For a device/target ?
Maybe the software is having problems detecting the audio because it reports 1 channel as well (or it's it supposed to be mono ) ?
What does mediainfo say about the source? -

Thanks, what I meant by "lossless" is that the new file will match the source in all audio parameters so that there's no encoding, and since the source shows MPEG-2/4 as Audio Codec, then I should choose that same codec for the target, but as you can see from the drop down menu it's not available..

You should "copy" the audio instead. Don't choose the same codec for the target, because it will re-encode the audio (lose quality)
If that software doesn't have that option, use other software that allows you to do this e.g. avidemux , mediacoder , xvid4psp to name a few -
This is the associated video thread that gives details on hte source file:

I tried avidemux but for some reason it does not work with my flv -
As for why its only letting you do Lossless at 1411 is because that correlates to 44.1khz/16bit CD lossless quality and your source file is 44.1khz so naturally it is only letting you do that. But others have answered your questions successfully.
But side note, Even a Hifi source in PCM is a waste...I just did my own little project on some the Pink Floyd Vinyl; The Dark Side of the Moon (Someone ripped the Vinyl for me). I exported entire project at 96khz 24bit 6channels (thats about 13.8mbps for a grand total of 6.5gigs for 62mins) and when I compressed it using FLAC and Dolby TrueHD to put on an optical disk it showed that the Dolby TrueHD had compressed the file by 77% of the original PCM master....the TrueHD file was 1.96GB's. The FLAC was around 3.31GB's. PCM IMHO is great for capturing content and working on it but it wastes an incredible amount of space even on a Blu-ray disk (unless you literally have space on a disk to blow and not fill with more content).
