I'd like to help, but mine have all been inside the MKV files. I'll attempt to look more into the issue as soon as my Samsung TV gets fixed. Mine likely blew a fuse last Wednesday =(
-
Which samsung 3d tv you have?
And don't you try any 3d subtitle and way to see it? -
Troubleshoot this by going from WHAT WORKS to WHAT DOESN'T.
Not counting BD3D/BD/DVD authored discs, can your player see ANY subtitles?
If yes, are they internal (muxed into the video/media file) or external (situated in the same folder as the video/media file)?
Which format(s), if any, are supported?
You may want to look at some of my recent posts on this very subject...
What you need to understand is:
Don't count BD3D/BD/DVD authored titles, as those use a compliant VM (virtual machine) which supports that particular subtitle format within those authored specs.
Outside of that, there are 2 types of subtitles (not counting closed-captions here): Text-based and graphics-based.
You'll have to find out which ones, if any, your player supports (look in manual & online player forums).
Graphics-based subs are ALREADY pre-rendered to the shape and size of the video screen they are composited on top of.
Text-based subs need to be rendered, in real-time, upon playback.
However they are rendered, 3D subs (again, not counting BD3D) are meant to be composited on top of the video, so they need to match the 3D layout style of the video.
There are NONE of these non-BD3D types that utilize Mono+Difference coding, so ALL the types have to have 2 different viewpoints of the text.
And they should be horizontally shifted to achieve the perspective of having their plane of display overlaid IN FRONT OF the background 3D video composition,
otherwise, you would have 3D objects that seem to SLICE THROUGH or SIT IN FRONT of subtitles - this is clearly wrong to your brain and defeats the whole 3D illusion.
So the rendering has to be done correctly to provide for that horizontal shift.
Other than that, there is nothing special about "3D" subs, they're really just the same subs you would normally see - they're just laid out as a double-image (or double-text).
That's enough homework to get you started...

As already tallied the tv support Internet or external simple srt subtitles and ass subtitles but i don't succeed to see 3D SUBTITLES NOT 2D SRT SUBTITLES either internal or external to any situation.
I create this little rar file that inside has some 1 minutes 3d simple videos with different ways of 3d subtitles so they can test everyone it has the same tv if it see these 3d subtitles or not.
https://rapidshare.com/files/2588378099/3d_movie_clips.rar -
So, just to clarify: When you play a 2D MKV with accompanying 2D srt subtitle (of the same name, within the same folder), it plays with the subtitle?
If so, does turning on the 3D switch (using "Side-by-Side", for example) turn OFF those same subtitles from showing? or does it just jumble them up?
If jumbling them up, your job is one of reformatting the subs to show a "double-image".
If it turns them off, then your TV is telling you it DOESN'T SUPPORT subtitles along with 3D video (again, not counting BD3D, which of course it would support).

Yes the srt regonise it even it was internal or external at the same folder as the mkv file was if it has the exact same file name of mkv file.
When you turn one 3d mkv with srt subtitle into one and only screen(3D) it simply show the srt subtitle but 2d NOT 3D this is the reason i want to know what i can do to can see 3d mkv files(side by side or top by bottom) with 3D SUBTITLE and not with the simple 2d srt subtitle.
If you see the rar file i tell the link above i had inside 4 mkv files with
internal idx/sub files
and internal and external 3d ass files
internal sup files.
If you want test it. -
Then, like I told you, your job now is to re-format the srt text (from within a text editor or subtitles editor) so that your "2D" srt file shows a "double-image" of the text.
Save the changes, and NOW your "2D" sub will play correctly AS a "3D" sub (but only when shown in 3d).

I gave you the answer in the other thread. You may not like the answer but that's all you'll get.
Creating another thread just to re-ask the same question is a waste of everybody's time.

NO I AM NOT JOKING AND did you see anywhere that i tell that i can convert the srt into 3d srt file?
The only thing i tallied is that i CONVERT srt file into 3d with 3dsubtitler that create two idx/sub files that was 3d this is CAN BE happening.
The cornucopia tell that with adding spaces into the classic srt file it tranform it into 3d subtitle file and that i don't believe it because these things aedipuss telling and i believe it to. -
i thought you understood by now that it only supports .srt subs. you can make all the 3d sub/idx subtitles you want but they will NOT play on your tv, only on a computer. you were told this before.
--
"a lot of people are better dead" - prisoner KSC2-303 -
Ok. If you believe that then leave me alone to find out and test and other subtitle formats until i find it and STOP telling me that there ISN'T any way to see 3d subtitles to the samsung 3d tv's
-
samsung only supports subviewer ".sub" files not the vobsub ".sub" files 3dsubtitler generates. there is a huge difference. subviewer files are plain text, and vobsub are raw pictures and an index.
and just in case your wondering microdvd ".sub" is text also.

MAYBE I SAID MAYBE it support 3d subtitles... -
the ass format died with subtitle alpha at version 4 in 2000 well before 3d movies made a comeback. anything added after that will not be supported by any player. there was a proposal to include 3d text commands in v5. that never happened.
it was for 3d text(2d text that looks 3d) not 3d effects like in a video. you can't move it forward and back to make it look like it's popping out of the screen. the z position in ass subs is for the rotation of 2d text around a north south pole.
attached official ass 4 specs--

Ok... ok...
You believe that THERE ISN'T any way to see 3d subtitles at any 3d tv except i was buying any media player likw wd tv live.
So if you don't know any way then LEAVE ME ALONE TO FIND ONE WAY BY MYSLEF. -

"a lot of people are better dead" - prisoner KSC2-303 -
Lol, thats quite a joke isnt it?
I also have the challenge to play 3D subtitles at my TV but I gave up.
The only way it to make the 3D subtitle hardcoded at the video, but this take to much time.
So I moved to another option. To plug a android device to the TV and then see the 3D subtitle. My computer does not have HDMI out.
I was able to see 3D only at 720p.
Because the tablet resolution is 1280x720 and the video player interface and all android interface is upscaled to 1080p. When playing video with HW decode the video is full screen 1080p but the video player interface sits at the middle of the screen and is still at 1280x768
The subtitles then appear inside the video player interface and thus the stereo 3d subtitles wont mach when the 3D effect is ON at the TV.
The player that support 3d subtitles is MX video player. -
Hello everyone!
Is there ANY progress in investigation (if there's such going on somewhere by someone)?
I'm struggling with the same issue as fits79 - I have a SBS or OU 3D movie in mkv.
When I tried to play it with SRT, no matter if included in mkv or stored as external srt file, they are displayed as 2d, which causes discomfort when watching 3d movie.
I tried to convert the srt file (using 3d subtitler) into sub, but, as already said, my F7000, just like fits79 d6000, does not support them, because they are vobsub.
I tried to convert the srt file (using 3d subtitler) into Blu-ray sup. I merged them into the mkv container and played in my TV. Before turning the 3D function on, everything looks promising - I can see the SBS screen with subtitles on the left and on the right. Unfortunately, after switching to 3D, video becomes overlayed, but the subtitles are displayed still on the left and on the right :/
I know, that it's possible to re-encode the whole movie, to hardcode e.g. the vobsub file, but it will take couple of hours and I can't even imagine doing that each time I want to watch a 3D movie...
So - any other way/idea what to do to get the 3d subtitles on the NEWEST, almost TOP model of SAMSUNG TV? (caps used to emphasize my disappointment)
So I moved to another option. To plug a android device to the TV and then see the 3D subtitle. My computer does not have HDMI out. -
I'm having the same issues with sound and subtitles. I've been trying to create and burn a 3D HD DVD using
- multiAVCHD
- DVDFab
...
Each time, sound is removed even when in the m2ts played on computer, it works fine. Then I tried to just copy the file to my WD Duo. But the problem here is that, what format you put your subtitles in (srt, sub, sup....) the subtitle button on my Samsung 3D TV pops up with the message that there is not a subtitle.
Another problem is sound. I've tried a lot of convertors, audio extractors, and remux using tsMuxer to AVCHD. The conversion of AAC to AC3 doesn't seem to work -
@Michel260662, for one thing, there is no such thing as "3D HD DVD". The HD DVD format, as created by the DVD Forum (consortium), had similarities to BD, but was a COMPETITOR to BD, In ~2007 (maybe 2008?), it LOST the war - BD won! Since then, there have been NO players built nor discs pressed using that format (though there have been a few BD players that have at least retained the ability to play HD-DVD - good for them). HD DVD is a DEFUNCT/DEAD format! One should NOT be attempting to create something at ALL for a dead format (particularly one that never really got off the ground - it's not like recording some music to audiocassette, where even though it's time is over, there are still blank tapes that can be bought and players that can play it).
And that's not even considering the clear fact that HD DVD died before 3D got revved up, so there is, of course, NO specification for any 3D standard on HD DVD.
Now, maybe you misspoke and didn't really mean 3D HD DVD. Maybe you are talking about a "BD-9" or "BD-5" 3DBD (aka BD burned onto DVD media). Well, first you have the problem of downsizing (because of disc capacity and transfer rate limitations) vs. enough bitrate to generate reasonable quality. Double your bitrate requirements when dealing with 3D, and now you really have no option. THERE IS A REASON 3D works only on BD in HD - you NEED the space!
Also, it still hasn't been proven that DVDFab properly, and without problems/artifacts, rips a 3DBD-50 to a 3DBD-25, so the idea that you are using IT and MultiAVCHD to generate some kind of 3DBD is dubious at best.
Now, AVCHD: there is a separate spec for 3D AVCHD that has similarities to 3DBD, but there are enough differences where you surely need a BD player that SPECIFICALLY says is supports, not just AVCHD, but the AVCHD 2.0 spec, including 3D AVCHD. And then you will need a software that truly can output a legit 3D AVCHD format: PowerDirector, MagixMovieEditPro, Edius, a few others (all using latest releases). And I haven't seen ANYTHING anywhere on the net that says that AVCHD supports subs at all. It may be that this is one of the things that separates AVCHD from BD. If so, don't even try to worry about 3D subs if 2D subs can't work.
Now, Sound: "lots of converters" doesn't mean a thing to me. You could be using 30 different kinds of crap and it wouldn't matter if they were all crap. Name some softs, I know which ones output legit AC3. The AC3 would also have to be acceptable as an asset format in your 3D AVCHD authoring (or 3D BD Authoring) app.
You guys are STILL going about this the wrong way: Start with what assets you have, Find out what format is acceptable with the equipment you have got (or find out what equipment you need to get). Then get the software process that properly prepares your assets to output into that acceptable playback format. And that might take $$, because let's face it, producing 3D isn't freebie-cheapo-everyday-bottom-of-the-barrel type of technology. It's for risktakers & visionaries. I wouldn't say it's the BIG LEAGUES, but it is certainly at least the MINORS. Accept it, or accept half-assed & half-quality 3D that was re-encoded (and probably hardcoded).
There are a number of ways of showing HD 3D with subs with high quality, but most of those are still relying on a full-blown HTPC attached. That's the state of things as they are (and probably will be for a while, since the wind is abating on the 3D craze's sails).

I do have a HDMI output in my laptop, but again, this is very uncomfortable to connect it every time, so my question to you is - what player did you use on your android device? I have a Nexus 10 with HDMIout - will it do the job? I suppose this would be the least annoying workaround...--

Exactly, and even the manual adjustment to create the 3d could be expedited with a clever text processing script. What I've been saying all along.

Hello everyone.
I just bought a samsung f8000 TV, and I'm getting the same problem than everyone with the 3D subtitles.
I have read the whole thread, and I got that it's not possible to see 3D subtitles on the TV.
So I was wondering...
What if I would buy a device like Blu-ray drive or Multimedia drive which can read these 3d mkv movies, would the subtitles show?
If so, which brand / model would do such a thing?
Thank you. -
You can try using www.niske.dk. There, you can create 3D subtitile (convert e.g. from srt). Using txmuser, burn a mp4 and the sup file and you will create bdmv and certificate folder. Burn this to e.g. a dvd-rw (if output size is 4 or 9 gb)? This is the only way I found to create a 3d movie with subtitles. I have a external storage (wd duo live) and was not able to create subs using all share on my Samsung. Hope this helps

So aftyer having looking for a lot of different ways to get the subtiltes on 3D movies, I have found it, and it works perfectly (thanks to tc_).
Here is the way to do it.
Download mkvmergeGUI (MKVToolNix).
Find the normal (2D) .srt subtitle which will match your mkv movie.
Launch mkvmergergui. (mmg.exe)
now add your 3d movie mkv into mkvmergergui 6.20
now add in the 2d normal .srt
Now important parts.
in the track window:
1) highlight the video track.
now click on the tab below "format specific options"
see the stereoscopy selection, make sure it matches what the 3d movie .mkv format is. eg. side by side left first or top bottom left first, etc.
2) highlight the srt track.
now make sure you set your .srt to its language
default track YES
Force track YES (again yes, since most of the time its foreign language audio and subtitle srt are different language). This will automatically start using the srt instead of you manually selecting it with the remote.
after you have selected that, now start muxing.
It will take a few minutes, and the 3D movie will show the subtitle.
It works very good on my samsung TV ue46f8000. -
Note that your model is the f8000 while fits79's is the d6000. Looking at your manual, it seems to support more formats in general, so that would lead one to think that the chipset in yours is different/better than the other. Which means that, though it is possible, it is unlikely that your solution could be generalized to ALL of those problems experienced by previous users.
Also, since you are clearly, by your own admission, using 2D subtitles with the 3D video, we do NOT know for sure whether it is displaying the subs correctly.
You may say, "oh, but I can see them perfectly clearly and they don't smear or duplicate or anything". That may be true, but 2D subs don't have any feature that indicates WHERE to display them in the Z-space (aka Front to Back). So, if this were to work, by default it would just duplicate itself in both views, and, as we know, 3D views with no horizontal disparity are shown in the plane of the screen.
OK, so what's the big deal?
Well, if you have a sub at the plane of the screen WHILE also having a 3D image that is IN FRONT of the screen, you will have a visual rivalry going on due to the fact that the sub will be SLICING through BEHIND the plane of the 3D image, yet still be visible (not occluded). This is the equivalent of a Stereo Window Violation, and it is disconcerting & breaks the "suspension of disbelief" as well as making your eyes tired/hurt over the long term (because this doesn't happen in real life).
Unless this device has a hidden whiz-bang feature to compensate for this (by "riding" the disparity changes, etc), you WILL be experiencing this ill effect.
Sorry to burst your bubble. Another reason why 3D is as complicated as I've been mentioning. Worth it, but not when doing 1/2-assed shortcuts.

Just to remind you, I'm not trying to create a 3D company.
I just wanted to be able to watch my 3D movies with subtitles, and it works fine for me, the subs are centerized, nice and clean.
That's all folks!!! -
I know a way that works: Rip your 3D Blu-Ray with DVDFab and convert to a SxS MKV. Hard code the subtitles. Easy if you own the disc.
I'm not saying the encode is gonna be very good, even leaving the loss of resolution aside. I much prefer playing the original disc myself.Pull! Bang! Darn!
