Suggestions for a Video Capture Card

Howdy All
I am interested in capturing the VGA output from another computer, usually 1024x768, but maybe some day upto FULLHD 1920x1080. I am more interested in an internal card, but could use an external usb for the time being. I am most interested in a SDK that I could use to control that card from a programming lang like Delphi or Visual Basic. For winxp and win7.

Any Suggestions?

I can only remember seeing a couple of internal capture device that capture VGA

The AVerMedia device looks like the closest to what you want.

Epiphan makes a number of external VGA capture devices, but you will have to read the specs carefully. As resolution goes up, the available capture framerate goes down. This one is their most advanced model http://www.vgacapture.com/vga2usb-pro-frame-grabber/

I was hoping to get some users' input as to their preferences, especially with regard to a software development kit (SDK) that would allow an application to control the capture and output, etc.

I can only tell you that that there is an SDK available for the AVerMedia DarkCrystal HD Capture VGA Plus. I can't tell you what the SDK is like, since I haven't used it.

You can use DirectShow or VFW as your API with just about any card.
