  1. Hi,

I have a not-so-new laptop and television and I'm wondering if I can set them up so that I can get whatever is showing on the computer screen to show on the tv screen at the same time - typically Youtube or a French tv stream.

I've been looking at some of the gadgets listed here:

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/video-streaming

and they look a bit advanced for what I want to do - principally because I only have a VGA output on the laptop and a Scart or s-video input on the tv.

Could anyone tell me what options I have (if at all)? Would something like this:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002LZUHMI/ref=asc_df_B002LZUHMI917236/?tag=pgelec-07-379-2...I&linkCode=asn

    do the trick?

Alternatively, my digital receiver has both a VGA and HMID connectors, but I don't know if they're for in or out feeds. Maybe a VGA to VGA connector between the digital box and the laptop would do the trick?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  2. If your TV has in input that will accept whatever output your laptop has (VGA or DVI, for example) you can just hook them up directly with the appropriate cable. Otherwise you will need a scan converter. You'll have to tell what outputs your laptop has, and what inputs your TV has.

None of those other devices is going to help you.

If your tv is VGA-input and same from the Laptop you may be disapointed with the quality. The PC screen is quite small and won't show flaws.
Far better to get a new PC with HDMI output from the video-card (I'm thinking Desktop as this is likley to be far easier to upgrade as required).
From yr description that TV has HDMI input (small flat-style connector, that feel a bit weak). So that means it should take a higher quaility input. Ideally your PC needs a video-card with multiple outputs - I have a graphics card with three o/p VGA, HDMI, and DVI (quite a chunky small connector with lots of connections)
