  1. Greetings Earth clan,

I'm trying to convert multiple video formats (mov, flash, ect) so they are compatible on my xbox 360 media extender.
When I play the videos back, the tops and bottoms are cut off.
*I am watching on a 4:3 ratio CRT TV, but don't think that is the issue?

This is happening to multiple types of videos I'm converting, so don't know that listing each videos details is helpful as I'm guessing there is 1 OUTPUT conversion setting I need to change to correct.

I'm using Xillisoft video converter ultimate 6, because it has presets for xbox 360 compatibility...

*** If you need more details to aid diagnosis, I will certainly get up right away, IF helpful...
    1) -> IS there 1 particular setting I need to change to make these videos crop correctly (actually NOT CROP, I guess)

    2) not as important as above...
Which video format would you recommend for xbox 360 compatibility?

  2. Your TV has hidden the outer edges of everything you have ever watched on it. You never noticed before because you didn't have an external reference that showed the entire picture.

  3. Is there some setting I can adjust/change that would 'compress' the video size, while maintaining aspect ratio to compensate for the outer edges being hidden?

It sure seems like there has gotta be SOME workaround to compensate for this, when converting....????

  4. You can add black (or whatever color you want) borders around the frame and reencode. That way the black border will be hidden by your TV, not the picture you want to see. Don't bother getting the border exactly the right size for your TV -- the next TV you get will overscan by a different amount. And the amount of overscan can be different on each edge.

this sounds like good idea, unless easier way to just adjust settings in conversion?

??? HOW do I go about adding borders around all my different video formats, ect?
???? What software do you suggest I do it with?
????? What border sizes, ect should I use. Will they vary depending on the video aspect ratios and/or resolutions of various source videos I want to convert?
