    Hi all,

I'm after some opinions on the best DVD copying software (Paid for... not freeware). I am wanting to backup all of my DVDs onto a hard drive (saved as the VIDEO_TS folder). I am wanting to keep ALL features from original DVD and keep 100% quality as file size is not an issue.

I am completely eliterate when it comes to "computer talk and terminology etc" so I am just after a program with great easy to use features, ability to maintain 100% quality and the ability to remove annoying copyright warnings.... Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

    DVDFabDecrypter (free portion of DVDFab)
    ...and maybe DVDShrink (free).

No need to pay for anything. Video quality does NOT depend on price paid.

If I had a lot of DVDs to copy, buying DVDFab and its features would make sense for me.

    Either way, good luck...............

Buying DVDFab is not a terrible idea, but as the OP is from outside of the USA and Canada, he is much less likely to see those bad sector copy protection programs like ARCCOS, Disney X, etc. He may not have any DVDs that require an up to date DVDFab to rip. Heck, old DVDDecrypter might even do the job too. Having the free DVDFab that is 6 months behind the commercial release should be sufficient for at least 99% of his DVDs. If he has any it won't rip, he can just wait a few months, download a newer version and try again.

What hech54 said. Do not assume paid software is better than freeware. In fact dvdfab hd decrypter, ie. the free part of dvdfab, is the good part. I'll never use the paid/trial part again.

There are tons of posts on this forum from people who are having problems with software they've paid for. The problems are ... they don't work properly. These people unfortunately googled the subject and only looked at the first 6 results. Which, of course, are stacked in google page rank.

I use AnyDVD HD. I consider it to be the best because it is updated a bit faster (as a general rule) than its main competitor DVDFab. And there are fewer complaints about poorly ripped blu ray with AnyDVD HD, though that is outside of what you want to do. Since you are working with dvds only, you just need the less expensive version of AnyDVD, without the HD capability.

There is no free version of AnyDVD. There is a free trial to test it. You can buy AnyDVD for limited time periods, or pay more for a lifetime subscription.

To rip the dvd, start AnyDVD, put your disc in your dvd drive, let AnyDVD analyze the movie, then right click on the fox icon at the bottom right of your screen. You'll see several options. Select Rip Video DVD to Harddisk. Couldn't be simpler.
