So I'm currently encoding a project from Sony Vegas that's a little over two hours long (about 2:15) and it's taking a VERY long time to encode the video. I'm outputting to mainconcept/avc mp4 with a main profile at around 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 bps and, so far, it's been encoding for 9 hours with an estimated 17 hours to go. Is that normal??? Is there a way that I can encode this thing quicker? I would have exported it to uncompressed AVI and then encoded with meGUI, but, in my experience, those uncompressed files are way too large and I don't have that kind of hard drive space. On the upside, it doesn't seem to be hogging much of my CPU, as I'm still able to browse the net.
Oh, yeah, and I also enabled two-pass encoding which I'm sure is doubling the render time.

depends on your computer. list it's specs in your profile. any effects/filters also increase rendering time.

I updated my profile with my computer's specs, but I'll paste it here as well: Windows Vista, Intel Core2 Duo CPU - T5800 @ 2.00GHz, 4GB Ram, 250GB HDD
I don't have any effects/filters in this project, strictly cuts. -
sounds like a laptop maybe? what video card?

you might want to try rendering with the cpu instead of a laptop gpu. click custom while in the render as template and select render using cpu only.

Ahhh, okay, yeah that was my problem. I was using the mainconcept instead of sonyavc. I am an idiot. Thanks for all the help.
