  1. Just used the latest DVD Slideshow GUI to export a video to GUI for DVDAuthor and found the subject error (ResH=0 and Duration=0.03s). Please see the screendumps from GFD and GSpot for more details. i've reinstalled both GFD and DSG several times but the problem persisted. I'm using XP sp3. Could you advise me how to rectify the problem?

In addition, when I tried to run GFD on Vista, GFD hang when I tried to add video. Can GFD run on Vista?

Your help is much appreciated. Thanks a lot!

  2. Your thread title says there are problems with both the resolution and the length.

Have you played the results? Is something wrong? GSpot shows it to be 720x576, 4:3, and 40 seconds long. Is that not correct? Doesn't it play with 'normal' aspect ratio? Is it not 40 seconds long?

  3. Thanks for your reply.

The info shown on GSpot should be correct, it's PAL 720*576 and 40s long. Though the video could be added but couldn't be played. In the preview, the duration is ??? and the screen is black. I tried to burn the DVD but Muxman said there was no video and the process failed.

  4. Furthermore, the m2v can be played with VLC normally. And I tried to add m2v of other size and length. The resolution and duration were also wrong (same as those shown on the dumps, 0.03s and 0*4095).

  5. How did you export from DSG? As single files m2v+ac3 or as a dvd with menus?

    Slideshow makes very short videos.
When combined with the audio, it makes a "feature" that is as long as the audio.
    So, no problem.

But the audio spec is red, indicating a problem, because it used a 44100 sampling rate. DVD audio must be 48000.
Remake the audio correctly and it should work.

  7. Both (export with menus and save *all) showed the same problem. In fact, export with menus worked a couple of days ago, but both didn't work now. Not sure if it's due to that I recently uninstalled some other DVD author related programs. Anyway, I have reinstalled both DSG and GFD several times afterwards. Furthermore, m2v from Batch DVD Streams Converter (avi to m2v+ac3) gave the same problem (except that ResV is 2621). Thank you.

  8. Even I removed the ac3 from the folder and add the m2v alone, there was still the same problem with the video. I remembered that GFD simply ignored the ac3 (no sound in the DVD produced). Thank you.

  9. @AlanHK DSG always exports 48000 audio.
@uwants7 Sounds like something goes wrong in the export from DSG - you could try to export those files again?
Export to DVD menus works here too. Are you using DSG 0.9.5.2?

  10. I'm using DSG 0.9.5.2. Just checked the old ac3 was 48K. I've just done again the whole process and found the new ac3 was also 48K, but the same problem persisted. It seems it's the problem of GFD.

  11. I simply don't know why GFD doesn't get those values correct, however you can properly just save your .gfd file open it in Notepad or an XML editor and find&replace those wrong values then save&reload the file in GFD.

  12. The .gfd is generated by DSG and should be correct (e.g., I checked the resolution).

In GFD, I saved the .gfd (res.= 0*4095), then updated .gfd (to 720*576) and add the m2v to GFD. The following error was shown:
    Warning: Video properties changed!
    Old XRes=720 New XRes=0
    Old YRes=576 New XRes=4095

It seems the GFD has problem recognizing the m2v (and ac3)...

  13. Can you upload this m2v somewhere for me to check (or a smaller example)? Gfd reads the properties from the first GOP header in the m2v file. Same applies for the ac3 file...

I tried to burn the DVD but Muxman said there was no video and the process failed.
Can you thy to use muxman in the GUI mode (just start muxman directly with a double click) and add the video and audio manually?

  14. Please find the sample m2v in attachment or the link below (3.5MB).

The vob can generated with muxman in GUI mode without error.

I just wonder if there's problem with the copy of GFD in my pc. Will GFD read media info from somewhere else, say the registry? Thanks a lot!

  15. That file imports in GFD fine here - maybe it is somehow connected to the audiofile?

  16. I removed the ac3 from the folder and imported the m2v only but the problem persisted (just the m2v was shown). I think both GFD and the m2v should be fine. That's why I wonder if there's problem with the copy of GFD in my pc or my pc config.

  17. Try it as admin. Some people reported problems if GfD was installed as admin and used as normal user.

  18. tks for your reply. but admim is the only user in my xp . i install and run with admin.

  19. Strange... Never heard about similar problems. At the moment I have no idea how to help you. The file can be used without problems by myself (and tin2tin) in GfD... You can try to reinstall GfD, but I'm not convinced that this will solve the problem.
One more thing to test... You can run the chaptereditor ChapEditGFD.exe and open the file there. It uses the same functions to read the m2v file (which is a direct low level binary file inspection - no dll or registry or 3'rd party software is involved).

  21. In addition, "Run-time error 6: Overflow" occurred when I opened some other mpg or m2v with Chapter Editor.

  22. I'm really sorry, but I have no idea how to solve this problem. As I cannot reproduce it on any of my computers (I tried your file on 4 different computers running XP or Win7 32 and 64bit without any problems), the only way would be to sit in front of your computer with a visual basic debugger...

  23. Thanks a lot for all your help. Both GFD and DSG are great programs. Perhaps there's problem with my window. I'll let you know if I got the solution. Thank you again.
