I purchased the wifi remote for my original HD Hero, I don't have the Hero2. The firmware updates were a hassle and I got frustrated, but eventually joy.
The great thing about this remote is that it's not really like a regular remote. It uses wifi to send/receive commands and status, so you don't need line-of-sight, and the signal goes through walls in the house.
Another plus, is that you always know the status of the camera, even if you can't see it. The remote flashes during record. You can tell when it's connected too. It's very clever the way they did it.

Hey, that sounds like you could use it as a nanny cam or spy cam. You could turn it off or on from another room. Have you tried the remote from outside the house?
