    All drives store data. Some use removable media for that, and some don't.

    The point is, SSDs are hard drive substitutes, not hard drives. Flash drives can be considered substitutes for USB hard drives. If I insert a flash drive and open its properties window, its type is given as "Removable Disk", but I can boot from one, create partitions, etc. (Creating partitions requires some special tools. Windows can't do it. Among other things it is necessary to set a bit that makes the system see the drive as fixed instead of removable.) However, I have yet to see anyone calling a flash drive a USB hard drive.
