    Hi
I borrow my son's camcorder (Panasonic VDRM50PP) and have to ask him to transfer the recording to a memory stick via his pc. I would like to do the transfer myself to my PC. Unfortunately he cant find the original software disc so has to rely on the installed software on his pc. I have copied over the DVD MovieAlbum SE software but I can't identify the driver on his machine and it may be that the installation of the driver requires more than just copying anyway.

So any advice would be appreciated (Panasonic website is no help) - if anyone can send the driver/installation software that would be great. I am in the UK but I don't suppose that poses any problem.

  2. How is the camera connected to the PC? Usually these recognize as an external drive and no software is needed to transfer the files. The DVD movie album software is probably near totally useless and can most likely be replaced by a free alternative.

You can't just copy software and expect it to work. Nearly all require some sort of installation routine.

Cam is connected via usb cable but does'nt show as a device- it works fine on my son's pc but to enable download on my pc it looks as if I need the original (lost) installation disk.

Thanks - I have downloaded and extracted to system32/drivers. I'll get the cam from my son and see if that works.

    Hi
Right clicking on the inf file produces a message that this method of installation is not suitable for this file. Out of interest should the inf file be accompanied by any other file or is it complete in itself?

Thanks for the info - it never occurred to me to look in the Windows compatibility area. My son uses xp and I use Win7. I'll have to think about buying a camcorder of my own, main purpose will be to record music at jazz gigs. I can't afford much - up to say £100, anyone any suggestions? I'll also post seperately as a new topic.
