  1. I have been reading about the settings (https://forum.videohelp.com/forums/10-Capturing), and I think I have it mostly figured out. Thought I'd post here to get it right the first time.

So from what I understand, avi type 2 is better for most editing programs. I was thinking of having the discontinuity threshold at 0, for one large file (I was thinking of doing a second capture, timecode separated files using the alternate avi type 1 to have both). Max avi size 115000 as per the webpage linked. Every Nth frame, 1. And is the checkbox next to capture for winDV to control the camcorder? Thanks!

Type2 covers both. It adds a separate copy audio track.

    A good tutorial

Camcorder control will pre-roll the camcorder. This should not be checked for live capture.

  3. Oops, that was what I meant to paste! (Hence the "Max avi size 115000 as per the webpage linked.)

So the checkbox should not be checked? Live capture as opposed to?

The check box next to capture will take control to the camcorder transport, cue the tape back several frames, initiate play for pre-roll then record at the in point.

For live capture (say from an ADVC) don't check the box.
