Hello,
I have been reading some old (early 90s era) video guide books and they have some basic and more advanced detail on the actual tapes themselves rather than just generic info. Talking about the material made and the oxides and all that stuff I never knew about.
What I am looking for are actual videos of a video tape being created. Also if you have it a video tape duplication house for mass producing a commercial video.
While I"m at it I would also like a video on the actual physical creation of a studio dvd disc (or bluray or both - but I'm assuming its essentially the same process with different raw materials and layering but the same end product essentially).
I have done a 10 page google search for "how are videotapes manufactured" and have come across texts on the matter but no videos. I also searched the video tab on google for a few pages using the same phrase and didn't come with up anything.
I was surprised I couldn't find anything on creating videotapes on youtube.
Your links would be welcome.
I grant you that a 10 page browse is hardly exhaustive but after awhile your attention span wanes and frustration sets in.
Again this is in regards to the physical production of the cassette tape itself. Oh and if you just have a link for a beta tape production plant that would be more than enough as I'm sure the essential process is the same for vhs since the form function is so similar (structural speaking, of course I know that is only on the outside - and I know the forms aren't identical - I should know my family owned a sanyo beta vcr when I was really young).
Thank you.
Edit - this is purely for self knowledge. This isn't for any project or report or anything. Just curiosity.
Edit - I do know dvds are "stamped" (edit I guess its really "pressed") but I don't believe I've ever actually seen it done.

Just go to youtube and search for 'VHS duplication' for a start.
I just saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0RM1sNs4mo which took in with a very large pinch of salt (maybe one can now go beyond real-time transfer) -
