    Hi from Berlin,

    I have Corel VideoStudioX4 installed on two XP machines and a Win7x64 computer. The two XP boxes work fine.

    I use ffdshow (latest version) on all three computers. I've exported the ffdshow settings from the XP machines to the Win 7 machine. My players are MPC and VLC, also the latest versions.

    The problem is with the Win7 machine. When I convert any format to flv and try to watch the resulting video on MPC (using ffdshow) on any of the three machines, there's no sound, and I get this error message.

    D:\Downloads\Untitled.flv::Audio
    Audio Switcher::Out

    Media Type 0:

    Audio: PCM 22050Hz stereo

    AM_MEDIA_TYPE:

    formattype: FORMAT_WaveFormatEx {05589F81-C356-11CE-BF01-00AA0055595A}
    bFixedSizeSamples: 1
    bTemporalCompression: 0
    lSampleSize: 1
    cbFormat: 18

    WAVEFORMATEX:
    wFormatTag: 0x0001
    nChannels: 2
    nSamplesPerSec: 22050
    nAvgBytesPerSec: 0
    nBlockAlign: 0
    wBitsPerSample: 16
    cbSize: 0 (extra bytes)

    pbFormat:
    0000: 01 00 02 00 22 56 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 10 00 ...."V..........
    0010: 00 00

    However, when I open the video with VLC, it works fine. Also, when I convert with winff, everything's fine.

    Can someone help, please? Thanks very much in advance.

  2. You probably have directshow filter issues (MPC is a directshow player and relies on system configured and installed codecs and splitters, but VLC doesn't rely on directshow components)

    What audio format is the FLV using? (If you don't know use mediainfo) Do you have that type of audio enabled in ffdshow ? Do you have FLV splitter installed ? In windows 7 you need preferred filter tweaker to adjust the directshow filters

    Thanks very much for your prompt reply.

    To take your questions / suggestions one at a time

    1. What audio format is the FLV using? (If you don't know use mediainfo)
    If I understand this correctly, both the error message and mediainfo said it's PCM.

    2. Do you have that type of audio enabled in ffdshow?
    I didn't see where to enable it, but as I've said, I'm using the exact same settings on the Win7 machine as the XP machines.

    Let me clarify one thing here that I didn't mention in my first mail (sorry): The flv videos converted on the Win7 machine can't play on the XP machine either (same error) but flv videos converted on the XP machines (and flv files downloaded from e.g. YouTube) play fine on the Win7 box.

    I'm really inclined to think the problem is somewhere with VideoStudio.

    3. Do you have FLV splitter installed?
    No, I couldn't get it to install following the directions. It appears to be more complicated on Win 7.

    4. In windows 7 you need preferred filter tweaker to adjust the directshow filters
    I looked at it, but it doesn't say anything about flv or PCM

    Sorry I'm so dumb at this stuff, and thanks for your help so far.
