While setting up a video for conversion I received this message "ffmpeg stopped working" and an error code 53.
How can I correct this. The video is in an mp4 format.

Are you sure that the error message reports ffmpeg and not HCenc?
Some common troubleshooting:
1. Have you installed Haali Media Splitter for mp4/mkv splitting?
2. Have you installed a good directshow codecs suite (like ffdshow)?
3. Any errors messages when you use the 'Preview Title Output' function?

Thanks for the reply, The error message does say FFmpeg has stopped working. Also an error 53 appears as well.
I did reinstall the FFDshow and so far haven't received the message (crossing fingers) Will let you know.
Do I need to install the Haali Media Splitter and what is it for?
thanks again -
Haali Media Splitter is a good mp4/mkv containers splitter. It is used to separate the audio/video/subs streams and let the decoders access them directly. You may use other splitters but I usually suggest Haali's. It comes with AVStoDVD installer package.

Thanks again for the reply.
I just started the conversion and it seems to be working.
I did reinstall AVStoDVD but I didn't reinstall the FFDShow. And I should have the Haali media Splitter somewhere in the AVStoDVD package.
So I am hoping all goes well from here.
Again many thanks
