Anyone know how to do this? I think I need a prores encoder preset or a newer version of the program... or is it in the Lion version?

    Any help would be appreciated.

ffmpegX doesn't encode to ProRes, same for the Lion version.

  4. I think iffmpeg added a prores profile a few months ago

    changelog
    · Added option ‘Prores profile’ for Prores encoding. (Proxy, LD, SD and HG)
You can do it for sure with a ffmpeg binary if you compile it with prores support, there might be some precompiled binaries floating around eg. http://ffmpegmac.net/ (I haven't tested this)
