    Hey guys!

Bit of a strange issue im having with my laptop.

Recently been playing Rage and twice in the past week the fuse in the charger plug has blown whilst playing. The laptop and the charger do seem to get quite hot but surely it should blow the fuse?!

If you draw more current than the charger can supply, the fuse will blow.

But surely the laptop shouldn't be drawing more than what the charger is rated at?

The Amp rating should be listed on the charger. The laptop may be drawing more. You could buy a higher Amp charger or other power supply that can supply more amps. You risk blowing the laptop power circuits.

Best to consult with laptop maker tech support.

We had a issue with the battery in an old Dell laptop; As time went on the battery became less able to hold a charge and took more current when charging. This caused the the charger to cut-out.

A 'fix' was to run without the battery installed.

How old is your laptop, and have you tried running it without the battery?

if its the original charger it should not cause that problem (if its a 3rd party multi then maybe) unles the power connector in the laptop is faulty & shorting out. games should not make it blow the fuse?
what make & model is it.
dells can have problems when come to end of life but not blow fuses?
if the charger is getting hot then i think its shorting out, eather a kink in the cable of the charger or short on the power connector on the main board(power input)

I think Intracube is onto something. As Li-ion batteries age, they run hot indicating they are drawing current. Add this to extreme gaming load and that may overload the charger. Try running without the battery.

  8. Yeah remove the battery, the GPU and CPU are drawing extra amps playing the game so it's overloading the fuse. It's also not good to continually charge the battery.

Thanks guys, I will give running it without the battery a go and keep you psted.

The laptop is an Acer aspire 5750g. The laptop and charger (original) are just over 6 months old.

I'll drop acer an email and see what they say too!
