Sometimes with certain video files or possibly even certain videos of the same filetype DirectVobSub will not work. Most recently It has not been working for any .MKV files I've played.... but I coulda swore that it HAS worked with some .MKV's I've played in the past. Then I click on an .AVI video (xvid encoding) and it works... the green arrow is in the system tray and subtitles work.

No matter if the .MKV has subtitles muxed in or not, I always have a seperate .SRT file named EXACTLY the same even caps sensitive in the same directory, and yet sometimes it just gets ignored and the DirectVobSub never even starts up.

I'm just wondering how I can get it to work for all videos/file types? oh yeah...in case it matters. I use WMP 12, ffdshow, k-lite. If you can help me I'd appreciate it, but if you are planning on suggesting that i use VLC, MPC, or any other media player, please dont even post. Thanks.

As I said I use K-lite which includes haali media splitter. Also, maybe i just don't understand but what does a media splitter have to do with subtitles when the subtitles in questions are a seperate .srt file... NOT muxed into the file?

Then please try a different/older version of DirectVobSub. I'm still using version 2.33, because it's very stable, and also because I don't need fancy/karaoke .ASS subs Some people say xy-vsfilter is faster and better than the "normal" VSFilter, however xy-vsfilter apparently is unable to apply new settings without a full re-load of the video.
