hi everyone, i am using Avidemux to cut and join h264 mp4/mov files and although i have no problems cutting files up, i sometimes get issues when trying to join files together using the Append mode.
i am using version 2.6.0 if thats of any help.
cheers

What issues? Are you getting any error messages? While 2.6 is some ways more stable than 2.5, it is still very much in beta, don't expect comprehensive error messaging.
Are the files you're trying to append the same pixel height / width? You can't simply append if not. 2.5 will give you an error message if you try it but 2.6 may not. Haven't tried it.
Check out nightly 2.6 builds too.
There isn't a 2.6 guide out yet. It's still in beta, and you can't expect real manuals with freeware. There are 2.5 guides but, with open source stuff, you can't expect docs to be up to date in general. That's why real pros use paid software unless they can afford to pay tech support personnel. -
hi, i did quite a few dvd rips (band concerts) and converted them to h264 mp4.
to explain what i did, well my son has a bunch of rock concert dvd's that i wanted to rip to the hdd, and then use handbrake to convert them to h264 (mp4) so he can store them to his hdd when he moves to uni next year, saving him from lugging all the dvd's with him.
some of the dvd's have 1 disc with just a concert on it, some of the dvd's contained 2 discs, comprising the concert, plus additional footage such as a feature, and maybe some behind the scenes footage.
i ripped the dvd's using DVDFab in movie only mode, so i could pick each track individually from each disc to convert to h264, and then i decided to join each of the 2 or 3 h264 tracks from the dvd set together into 1 file, rather than have 3 separate h264 files.
in 3 cases, i was able to join 4 tracks from a single dvd set after converting them the h264 in handbrake, but 2 dvd sets i output to h264 wouldnt join.
i havent got the dvd's now to replicate the error, but it had no reference to one file not being the same height or width as the first file, i already came across that one accidentally trying to join 2 different band concert files together that were not the same.
i reckon there must have been something else wrong.
when i import the first file, i press button A as the start point, i slide the bar to the right, then append the 2nd file, slide the bar to the right so both files are set to be output, i then press button B as the end, and then click SAVE.
worked on some but not on others.
