  3. Ops, I think I'm having the same problem. This message persists in every videos I've edited recently after I fixed my computer and reinstalled everything in it: "error - could not write to the standard output". The first edited video didn't have any subtitles related to, although the message appeared, it was perfectly syncronized. The last two had the same problem and the message. Their subtitles's code wasn't checked.

I upgraded ffdshow and Haali codecs, and I don't know if it's really a question of subtitles because the message appeared also in a edition of a video that haven't any and the result was perfect.

test 1: video without subtitles (message appeared / perfect sync)
test 2: video with subtitles (message appeared / srt subtitles code unchecked / out of sync)
test 3: video with subtitles (message appeared / sup subtitles code unchecked / out of sync)

Could it be because of the location of the output directory (original) or its original name (~user name)?

Here's the log file of test 2.

    thanks in advance

This may seem obvious ... the science of troubleshooting often deals with eliminating the obvious first ... but is the sound in sync on the original file?

  5. @Ze Tomes

    1. Where exactly do you get the message "error - could not write to the standard output"

    2. Regarding test 2, the issue is releated to the backup audio routine (FFmpeg) which does not use the AviSynth script, hence it does not process the PAL speedup. It is very strange that on test 1 you are not having out of synch. Could you please post the log file of test 1?

  7. Greetings MrC

    1. Where exactly do you get the message "error - could not write to the standard output"
It's after concluding the video encoding, just when it starts the audio edition, that the message appears on a window and stops the process. I have to close it to allow the editing to continue.

If I recall correctly, after test 1 (2,3,etc) I changed the video general preferences to: (AVStoDVD Preferences > Video > Setup Video Profiles > HCenc VB 1-pass) because
the next editings would imply the need of subtitles, and by this new process the audio editing was always getting stucked, when subtitles were present I mean. At the previous one (test1) subtitles weren't needed therefore I didn't have to change the video settings, but if I'm not in mistake the error message was already appearing by the same circumstances.

But of course my friend, here it goes:

    Cheers

  8. Wait, is the last log file belonging to test 1? How can you say that video and audio are in sync, while video encoding has aborted and audio encoding has never started?

Yes. Video encoding was finished correctly and never aborted, and the audio encoding started somehow after I closed the dos window refering to the error message (error - could not write to the standard output)

  10. I'm suspecting it is somehow connected with the editing directory paths. Testing

  11. Nhahaa! I think I've solved the mystery! It's because of the string text of the output directory! (i was using the directory of my user name with special portuguese caracteres, like c:\users\JAOP~1)... at least it gives major headaches for hackers, I presume...

No more error message. Waiting for the end of the edition

    Cheers

  12. Case closed, audio and video perfefctly syncronized and no error message > simple output directory with simple ascii caracters. Now for the subtitles... that's another story for which I think I got the solution already. Let me check...

yup, everything's perfect now, thank you again for yout major work MrC.

    Portugal Cheers!
