Hi, I have a Sony HD-PJ10, and so far I've been using USB (of course, slowest data transfer known to man) and I'm looking to upgrade and a get a cord for the HDMI. However, I have HDMI output on my vidcam, but my computer (mac) has a Thunderbolt port. Am I looking for a cord that will have Thunderbolt on one end and HDMI on the other? There's also another port directly underneath the HDMI and it *looks* like Thunderbolt but I can't be sure. It has the little USB logo thingy next to it but it doesn't look anything like USB. HELP!

afaik thunderbolt to hdmi adapters are only for connecting a mac to a display. what you would need is something to "capture" the hdmi output of the cam and transfer it to the mac over the thunderbolt.

OK for HDMI capture to Thunderbolt you need the BlackMagic UltraStudio Express capture device $495 (shipping Q2 2012)

Wait....then you're saying I'm stuck with usb without spending a bunch of money? What about the other port? Because it looks like a thunderbolt port.

There's a second port underneath the HDMI outlet. And it looks like a thunderbolt, but I just want to make sure. I just looked at it again and it looks like Thunderbolt, but it's a little stumpier. And it has the USB three cord logo thing. What is that? And can I use it? It also has individual colored video and audio outlets. Like headphone plugs kind of thing. What are those for if I use HDMI to hook up to an external display?

Are you talking about the analog A/V R port?
P-33 of your manual
For that you need a BlackMagic Intensity Pro but that won't work in a Mac. Elgato makes an HD component capture device for Mac.

Yea it's that little one underneath the HDMI. I don't see any information about it. What is it? And what are the video and sound outlets for above the HDMI?

Analog component YPbPr video and RCA type stereo audio. Both lower quality than HDMI or AVCHD file transfer.
The round minijacks are probably headphones and external mic.
Didn't you get a manual? You can find one here.
