  1. Hey guy,

I am having a problem capturing with a TV Wonder pci card. I have a dual boot machine with Win98 and Win 2000, 256mb ram, Asus A7V133 board, Riva TNT 16mb video card. I have the same problem when booted to either OS. Sometimes I can capture a 30 minute program successfully, other times I can capture about 10 minutes and then the system crashes. It hard locks. I still hear sound as if nothing is wrong, but the video freezes and I have to hard restart. This happens at random so it is hard to pinpoint the problem. I am using MMC 7.1. I downloaded MMC 7.6 and it installs and works fine, but without the tv tuner option. I found an article that said to edit the install.ini file and change the "detecthw" line to "0", but their is no line like that in the ini file. I added the line myself but it still did not work. Any thoughts?

  2. my guess is a heat issue, tv cards can give off alot of heat.

check your temperatures in bios if it crashes. then remove your case cover and try it. mine used to crash the same and was due to overheating.

  3. Mine did the same thing. My computer is a NEC 500MHZ (declocked to 250) and 256MB Ram and a seprate drive for capture.

When I capture I always capture in vdub. When im doing something that will be converted to vcd, I like to capture the full 74 minutes all at once. But sometimes it would lock up just like yours. I declocked it to 250mhz and declocked the bus down to 66mhz and everything is fine and its still only using about 40% cpu during capture and its alot cooler. Your probably not going to want to declock, but try to take the cover off, and maybie even put a portable desk fan and blow inside. Its worth a try.

  4. Sorry, I can't help with the locking problem, but hopefully I can help a bit with MMC.

I also tried to upgrade from 7.1 to 7.6 and ran into the same problem you did- TV wasn't an option to install. Tried everything I found in the forums and even tried to add the same line you did- nothing worked.

Finally, I just downloaded 7.5 from www.filemirrors.com and it installed just fine. (BTW, I problem I now have is that 480x480 is not an option and I'd like to make some SVCDs so any help would be greatly appreciated!)

  5. mmc7.5 and 7.6 is not made for the tv wonder so problems should be expected if you install them. i didnt have a problem, but there was no benefit to installing any other mmc, the tv player was the same or timeshift didn't work anyway.

the only fix i can suggest trying is uninstall mmc, the drivers and the hardware from control panel and reinstall mmc71 and hope you get 480*480 back
