    Hi
    why does avc format break down after a long period of time of no use ?
    Done all the different players and codec packs even done a full system
    format.But still every now and then they just stop working.
    Is there anything that I should Know ?

    Heres a some info on one of the broken files

    Set the self-destruct flag to 0 when you encode....


    Nope, but I have never seen it. Maybe a corrupt hdd or something.

    Thanks for a quick reply.I have a question why is avc being pushed so much.I mean it reminds me of early divx/xvid days.Why change,
    xvid now is sweet has nut.It works on all new dvd players, media boxes etc... encoding takes minutes not 2 days. But this avc takes vast amount cpu power takes ages to encode anything,lots of software players carnt handle it and it hardly works at all on new dvdplayers.It feels like we are fixing something that aint broken.

    We could still use mpeg1. It works on everything!

    But the main reason for avc/h264 was "The intent of the H.264/AVC project was to create a standard capable of providing good video quality at substantially lower bit rates than previous standards".

    And soon will you see h265/HEVC.
