WMM is designed to be "easy enough an idiot can use it". Such software usually doesn't allow you the kind of granularity you are seeking as the more they let users monkey with the settings, the more likely they are to have problems and come bitching about how "Your piece of crap software is broken". Maybe there is a way, but few of us use that as it's too low tech for our needs.

The old version of WMM was decent for WMV and DV-AVI because it had a timeline , the new version called Windows Live Movie Maker is more dumbed-down with less features. If you must use WMV then install Windows Media Encoder 9.
