Btw: Sometimes, I struggle to find the tooltips. It seems that sometimes they are in a box, sometimes in a button, sometimes in the text next to the button and sometimes there are none. I do get caught as sometimes the tooltip is hard to find and I too quickly assume there is not one. Hope you know what I mean.

Will try the latest release later. The last version I downloaded is rocking!! I am very happy. For I while I felt like I was going down a long dark tunnel, but you persevered and fixed all the problems so far.

Will retest the autocrop thingie later as well.

I checked the autocrop again with the latest release and it still crops only the top black bar in the second video, only when the video is part of a folder that is thrown at Hybrid.

Everything else seems great!!

No,... I normally only look at the last post. -> there is a reason for the ability to edit a post.

What are "lavthreads"? (from your changelog)

the lav threads value specifies how many threads are used by mencoder/mplayer/ffmpeg
Hybrid automatically sets these to CPU Core count and this value should not be changed unless you know what you are doing.
(also since I downgraded mplayer/mencoder setting a value > 8 will probably trigger a crash)

should be everywhere except when avisynth is used (iirc there's still a bug, which I haven't had the time to fix, which disables the audio in the previews once an avisynth preview was triggered,.. -> correction: mute is triggered when 'Filter view' gets enabled, the Filter View button gets pressed, the Filter View window gets closed and 'Filter view' gets disabled; -> fixed for new version,..)

No, clue. I honestly don't know all the file types Hybrid can handle so unless you want specific file to be analyzed or not to be analyzed leave both "Input Extensions" lines empty.

Ps.: btw. I looked at the autocrop and figured out what the problem is with autocrop and batch processing
AutoCrop is only triggered on source change, but during batch processing the source is only changed once.
-> I'll look into it and probably add a new switch for it somewhere,..

My observations:

The log is working nicely now - well done!

The auto crop feature is more consistent in that it now only crops the top black band on all videos - both for folders and individual videos!

The audio on all previews doesn't work.

I like the identification of the preview windows - great!

Regarding the autocrop - is there a way to have a live view of a manual or modified autocrop. In other words, to view a preview of the autocrop and to adjust it manually to what I want with a live preview? At the moment I have to close the preview window and reload it to see the effects of my manual adjustments.

==>Aah! Now I see that there is a "live" view for the cropping - the "crop mode" tick box! Unfortunately, I find I can only increase the crop using the "a", "s", "d" & "w" keys, but can't reduce them using the "alt" key. The alt key doesn't work.

I think you are confused by the mplayer crop style, which specifies the size of the part that should be cropped out and the x/y position.
If you want a crop: left/top/right/bottom style switch to avisynth style cropping.(select: Crop/Resize->Crop style->Avisynth; 'Enable cropping' needs to be enabled to change the 'Crop style')

a. the normal preview should show the effect of the cropping values entered
b. if you want to adjust the cropping manually and you prefer a visual cropping aide use the 'Crop View' by enabling 'Crop mode' (next to the Preview-button, which get's renamed to 'Crop View') and than press the 'Crop View'-button.
Inside the 'Crop View' read the tooltip

ctrl step one frame forward (mplayer can't step backward single frames)
left or right try to seek backward/forward 1 second (+ next key frame)
down or up try to seek backward/forward 1 minute (+ next key frame)
pgdown or pgup try to seek backward/forward 10 minutes (+ next key frame)
p or SPACE try to pause movie (press again to continue)
q or ESC stop playing and quit program
+ or - adjust audio delay by +/- 0.01 second = 10ms (for preview only)
o cycle OSD mode: none / seekbar / seekbar + timer
* or / increase or decrease PCM volume (for preview only)

I think you missed this comment. Auto crop also crops only the left of videos that need a trim on the horizontal plane.

I just noticed that if I set "Auto deinterlacing" and select the Deinterlacer as "Yadif (Avisynth)" with mode 1 and 'order' -1 and then save the global profile, this setting is back to default mode 0 and order 1 when I reload the saved global profile.

Also the preview does not show the deinterlacing. I tried avisynth preview and filter view with no luck.==>I just noticed that with this video the deinterlacing analysis doesn't pick up the interlacing for some reason (says input is progressive) and the previews do work if I click force deinterlacing. I even tried increasing the % to analyse to 50% and it still picks up the source as progressive.

That's the reason why the audio preview does not work. The generated avisynthscripts themselves do not include audio and Hybrid atm. only plays audio for such files, if the audio is a separate file.

If Hybrid detects the deinterlacing wrong, AutoDeinterling is bound to fail,... if Hybrid thinks the source it not interlaced, why should it deinterlace unless you force it to?

Okay - sounds good, but if I close Hybrid and restart it without applying anything - just the default installation settings - the sound still doesn't work!

I have no clue what sort of input you are feeding to Hybrid so I can't recommend anything.

Assuming mkv can handle the contents of you input, what you can try is:
1. load source in Hybrid
2. set Main->Primary Input selection->Audio handling to passthrough all
3. set Main->Primary Input selection->Video handling to passthrough
4. activate Config->Internals->Handling->Cut support
5. set Main->Primary Input selection->End to 00:00:30
6. set output (i.e. to test.mkv)
7. press 'Add to Queue'
8. press 'Start Queue'

I just noticed that the autocrop doesn't work only when I select 'enable resizing'. It works if I don't try to resize. Once I have selected 'enable resizing' it seems to disable autocrop altogether even if I then unselect 'enable resize'.

Update on the autocrop:
I just deactivated the 'autorun interlaced check' and saved the new global settings. Restarted Hybrid, loaded the just saved global profile and the autocrop worked even with the 'enable resizing' selected (selected from the global settings). As soon as I change the tick next to 'enable resizing', the autocrop stops working and I have to restart Hybrid.

Note that the autocrop worked fully by cropping all sides! Seems the auto deinterlacing check was meddling with that too!
