cut video and save as direct stream copy

I DID pick Pick ffdshow! and as i said i chose the same settings as jagabo. Anyway, this is a part of the video im trying to cut. The part i want to take out is the one with the human actresses and leave only the cartoon but no matter what i do, i just cant cut it off.Are you sure there isnt another program there that can just cut the video right and save as direct stream copy?

Note that at the point of cut, Vdub had to encode few frames, but anything else is stream copy.

Honestly, I don't know where your are failing.
You also have to use AviFrate, to fix framerate, as jagabo also said.
And don't check DirectStreamCopy at Video menu. Use FullProcessingMode.
And turn on SmartRender, of course.

I'm not sure, but there is a little thing with your settings that can be the guilty.

Change to MPG (not MPG1) and try again.

You're following the whole track already described. Use AviFrate to fix this new (old) error.

Yes, I meant it.
FPS is in a way that Vdub cannot handle.
But create a backup before.

Start AviFRate, set Scale to 1000, rate to 30000, press Apply.

There is quality loss at cut GOPs. Not the rest of the video. Your sample appears to have about 150 frame GOPs.

Avidemux 2.5. I'm really surprised no one has mentioned this. It does just what you asked and it works. I use it all the time for just exactly what you asked "cut video and save as direct stream copy".

Are those my only two options? Needless complexity or broken video?

All I want to do is delete annoying scenes from movies in my personal collection. Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 is apparently incapable of opening anything without "conforming" it first, which is obviously some kind of render process and hangs on my machine.

Windows live movie maker would be fine in terms of interface. Watch movie>insert splits>delete scenes> save movie, except that it won't do anything approaching direct stream copy or even matching input values.

The state of video generally is atrocious. Reminds me of that old stab... "Unix, so many standards to choose from."
