Stumped. For whatever reason, a particular 33-second 5.1-channel audio clip, which I use eac3to (3.24) to convert from DTS to WAV, is giving me problems. When I load it up in Audition 3, it correctly recognizes that the two side channels have audio in them (even though it splits the file up into six mono channels, which I hate, since it complicates the prospect of universally-applied edits and effects).
Loading the same WAV up into Premiere Pro CS3 or Soundbooth CS3 gives the result that the side channels are completely mute.
This is the only time I have encountered this missing-sides issue, out of dozens and dozens of 5.1-channel clips. It's also the only case in which I've loaded the entire output from eac3to, as opposed to clips saved from within Audacity, so that may be a clue as to what's going on.
Loading eac3to's output into Audacity (which also correctly identifies the data in the side channels) and re-exporting it unaltered results in a file which works correctly with Soundbooth and PPro.
Would love to know more about the nature of this bug.
