I am running a dual boot machine with win me and win 2000. In 2000 I've tried to rip a DVD, but SmartRip said no ASPI device available and said the files were locked. Can anyone help me with this problem. There are some DVDs I've been able to rip successfully. I have a Toshiba 16x DVD Drive I'm ripping from. Thanks for your help!

Windows2000 does not provide an ASPI Layer, you must install an ASPI Layer to be able to use any ripper to rip a DVD under 2000, I suggest ForceASPI 1.7, or install EZ CD Creator 5 with the update (don't boot untill you have the update installed, or you'll trash the system!).

the new version of smart ripper supports file unlocking and the native win32 cdrom interface. http://www.doom9.org has it in the downloads section. That will fix both the problems you are having, though i do recommend that you install aspi drivers anyway since they do perform better than the win32 interface in most cases.
