Recording VHS to VHS?

Hello,
I am trying to create a video collage from VHS to VHS, but certain films am getting a bouncing image. Are there ways around this? I am assuming it has to do with loss of image stabilizer when recording from VHS to VHS, and something to do with different speeds. But any help/knowledge/direction with this sort of thing would be super helpful.

Sounds like you are getting a typical weak composite signal. This is common when doing analog to analog transfers.
Also, it could be the Macrovision copy protection being triggered.

Yeah, even if you ultimately HAVE to end up on VHS (because of a grandma/friend/client needing only that), it really makes sense to capture and then edit digitally and then roll the edited copy back out to a new VHS.

VHS->VHS without any intervening TBC, is just compounding a problem. And you'll find that, unless you have flying erase heads, multideck control and synchronization, you're edits would look like crappy glitches.
