Hello. i was wondering on how to play cdg files on my dvd player? I downloaded a karaoke files on .mp3 and .cdg format in it. I tried to copy it on my USB and tried to play it on my dvd player. But, I can't see the files. What do I need to do first in order for it to play on my dvd player? do i need to compress it?

MP3+G is what you have ... ripped for pc playback ... the cdg's contain the images / lyrics

If your dvd player supports mp3 playback and cannot see or play them make sure you both name and encode the to the specific requirements required for the dvd player ... normally in the user or operators manual ... if not get onto the manufactures site and hunt the information down.

It might be easier to create a dvd ... convert each mp3 to ac3 (each ac3 will contain a background image of your choice) for authoring purposes ... convert the cdg to srt for each track ... done ... works for any dvd player.

To edit cdg try cdg editor ... its free

I might be off here but what I do is convert the mp3+cdg files to video and then create video CDs to use a Karaoke at parties etc.
I use http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/89845/MP3-CDG-Karaoke-Player but it needs compiling in Visual Studio (the Express version will do and is free from Microsoft and needs .Net). This project also includes a player as well which works on my dev kit but not on the kit I use for parties.

If you're converting to video already, better to go straight to DVD, as VCD is deprecated...
