    I've installed:

    * VirtualDub64 (the latest version)
    * The Quicktime plugin from ffcHandler: http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/~fcchandler/Plugins/QuickTime/

    However, when I use VirtualDub open a .MOV file (such as those from my IPhone), I get a black screen and "Missing Codec (AVC1)" error.

    Looking this up, it seems I _must_ install FFDShow. I previously uninstalled this as I'd had issues with it. Is there any way around this, or must i use FFDShow?

    Regards,

    P.

    My guess is that it's a problem with 64bit vs. 32bit stuff. Isn't the QT plugin 32bit? That would explain it, as all the plugins should be using the same architecture as the app.

    For AVC, aka H.264, you'd better use the VfW version of x264.
    For MPEG-4 ASP (aka Xvid / DivX), use Xvid.
    If I am not mistaken, you cannot do without the VfW interface of ffdshow when you need a VfW-wrapper for:

    MPEG-1, MPEG-2, WMV1, WMV2, and VC-1.
