  1. does it make a difference if you set 'auto add(all)' before or after the loading of the source?
According to the debug output only a passthrough job was added to the queue,..
    Quote Quote
  2. I was setting it before. Saved it as default. Hold on I'll check.
    Makes no difference, no.

  3. Just checked here:
    1. Started Hybrid
    2. set Main->Audio handling to 'auto add (all)'
    3. enabled Audio->Reencode (and made sure aac with nero was selected)
    4. loaded source
    5. switched to audio queue and checked audio job:
    ->
    Code:
    H:\TestClips&Co\test.avi;1;aac;2;bitrate;128;nero;auto;48000;auto;;-55;17.16;mp3;0;1;don't change;;false;;false;1;false;;;;true;true;false;;false;48000;unknown;false;;false;true;false;;1/1;;0;0;;None;54:_:15;10;20;0;1000;;false;;mpa1l3;false;1;;;;;2.16;16;-n;4;GPU;NVIDIA CUDA;
    looks fine
    6. Main->Add to queue
    7. Checked jobs
=> everything works as it should, sounds to me like you configured something wrong

    ----
to make sure I saved the settings as defaults, restarted Hybrid, loaded the source again and checked the queues. -> everything looked like it should

  4. OK, I reset and it works fine now. Wonder if it had anything to do with me using passthrough before? Strange.

Another little issue, when tagging the container, the cursor jumps to the end if you're editing a tag.
e.g. If I'm editing movie_name to my_movie_name, the cursor jumps to the end from the time I hit m.
I have to go back to add the y and then it jumps to the end again before I add the underscore.

  5. No clue, what you did before, judging from the debug output you offered, everything worked like it was configured to.

Another little issue, when tagging the container, the cursor jumps to the end if you're editing a tag.
I know, does that for quite a while now, but I somehow never get around to fix that bug.

  6. Today when I opened Hybrid I see a popup message that says "Not adding empty jobs". When I OK the message I see a box that says the program stopped working. I reinstalled the program but I still get the same problem.

  7. strange this should only happen on startUp if your autosavedJobs.xml is messed up is some way or the other

What Hybrid version are you using on what OS?

  8. Windows 7 64-bit. I deleted everything in C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Roaming\hybrid and it fixed the problem. Just noticed that that is where the profiles are stored. I installed the program as a portable installation so I thought the profiles should be in the installation folder. Is there any way to do that?

  9. I installed the program as a portable installation
So you did modify your misc.ini, right?
The official download page states: "These are not portable packages unless they contain a special modified misc.ini file."

If you want to make Hybrid portable, you need to modify the misc.ini accordingly, read: http://forum.selur.de/topic33-hidden-hybrid-options.html -> 'make Hybrid portable (Windows only)' on how to do that.

  10. I just installed the program and didn't make any changes. Instead of uninstalling I just deleted the installation folder. Would that of done any harm then as I didn't make it portable like you said?
    Quote Quote
  11. if "installed" means that you copied it into a folder and not using the actual installer, then deleting the installation folder should do no harm. (I your recommend to also delete the "C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Roaming\hybrid" folder)

  12. I downloaded 64-bit Hybid Portable from Download.com. It doesn't install anything, you just unzip the files. However when I open Hyvrid I see a message that says: Found no local.conf file at: D:\Hybrid\fonts\local.conf. I created a fonts folder then created an empty local.conf file. What am I supposed to do now to get Hybrid to start without showing that error message?

How come the download doesn't have any instructions which explain how to edit that file? Just wondering why this version isn't on your site as the only version on your site is the one that requires installing.

The installation version requires editing the misc.ini file yet the portable download.com version requires editing the local.conf file. Why do they use different files? Confusing.

When I loaded the portable version I noticed that all my settings were already set so it seems to be accessing the settings from the installed version. I thought it was supposed to be portable? I want everything to be self-contained in the Hybrid folder so it can be truly portable. How can I do that?

  13. *gig* I'll explain what happend.
    First some 'background':
    • I offer multiple Windows Downloads on my site:
      1. a normal installer version, you install it and you can use Hybrid
      2. Hybrid - only downloads which are only the Hybrid binary, without all the other tools and config files.
I added this download due to user request; some users prefer to only update the tools if really necessary.
      3. two separate 'Hybrid Windows Packages'
        1. Windows 32bit package, which contains all the tools needed for Hybrid (it also contains the fonts folder)
        2. Windows 64bit additions-package, which only contains some 64bit tools and is ment as an addition (hence the name of the package) to the Windows 32bit package
So, none of these packages is ment as a portable version. *
      4. An avisynthExtension-addOn which incorporates some of the filters Avisynth offers into Hybrid.
    • I do not offer a portable version, however I do offer instructions how to construct one.
(*hidden* Hybrid options,...->make Hybrid portable (Windows only))
    • Nearly all download portals offer Hybrid without asking me for permission. Ignoring the license statement: "Hybrid itself is free for personal usage without a hassle.
Hybrid is provided "as is", without any guarantee made as to its suitability or fitness for any particular use. It may contain bugs, so the use of this tool is at your own risk. The author takes no responsibility for any damage that may unintentionally be caused through its use. You may not distribute Hybrid in any form without a written permission of the author."
Since Hybrid is ment as a free tool I normally ignore that and all the stupid comments they add to the downloads.

So now to what probably happened:
    1. I guess Download.com offers both package-downloads as portables, without doing any modifications or side note. Like that these are not portable versions, that one of the packages is only ment as an add-on and that some additional steps are needed to make them portable.
    2. You probably only downloaded the 64bit package, which by itself lacks tons of stuff, including the fonts folder and it's content.
    3. When started up, Hybrid complains about tons of stuff, realizes that too many is missing to be of any use and therefore doesn't activate the user interface properly.
I want everything to be self-contained in the Hybrid folder so it can be truly portable. How can I do that?
If you want a portable version based on these packages for 64bit, you need to:
    1. Download the 32bit package and extract it into a folder
    2. Download the 64bit addition and extract it into the same folder replacing
Assuming you did that an Hybrid is placed inside a folder where you have write access during, Hybrid will adjust the local.conf file inside the fonts folder.
Warning: Only replace the avsInfo&avsViewer version of the 32bit package with the ones in 64bit addition if you use Avisynth 64bit.
    3. To make Hybrid really portable, you need to a. create a settings folder b. create a misc.ini file (see link above for more infos).
Hope this helps with the problem and clears up what happens and why.

  14. Hello. For the first time in a long while, I need to remove black bars from the top and bottom of a video. Before I switched to Hybrid, I used editors that showed a visual of the picture as you were cutting off the bars bit by bit - very easy thing to do. However, I can't figure out how to use Hybrid for this task. Is there a tutorial somewhere? Thanks.

No, there isn't since I simply lack the time to write one and nobody else cares enough.

    For cropping you can:
    a. use the auto crop
    b. crop manually
    c. crop manually with crop view (preview):
    • enable Crop/Resize->Picture Crop
    • enable enable Crop/Resize->Crop view
    • press the Crop/Resize->Preview/Crop View button
    • read the tool tip to understand how to use this view for cropping
    Quote Quote
  16. Hi Selur and thanks for that. I had no luck, though - autocrop gave me the same output as input and as for doing it manually......
    Quote Quote
  17. "read the tool tip to understand how to use this view for cropping"
depending if you use "crop view" or normal "preview" the tool tip changes and one of the things the tool tip mentions, is how to stop the preview

Hybrid will not run on my system after update.

The procedure entry point strncpy_s could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll

Get tool version got an empty output for ffmpeg . The cause may be that ffmpeg could not be found... Please redo this with debug output enabled and tell the author.

  21. YUp, vpxenc and ffmpeg that came with the last version cause problems on some WinXP systems:
for ffmpeg latest from http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/ and for vpxenc http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1638455#post1638455 should help. (both will be included in the new version I release later today; ~6h)

  22. Hybrid rev 2013.08.04.1:

    *changed*
    • avisynth: using FTune and SangNom2 instead of TurnLeft/TurnRight and SangNom
    • cosmetics: also show current bit rate during x264 encoding
    • jobs: handling what to do when the output already exists,...

    *added*
    • input: option to tell Hybrid if it should take the normally signaled or the original resolution
    • jobs: option to send ssl-email when job and/or queue is finished (smtp server infos need to be configured through misc.ini); non-ssl servers are not supported
    • jobs: option to connect to irc via ssl and send a message (irc server infos need to be configured through misc.ini); non-ssl servers are not supported

    *fixed*
    • avisynth: problem with 'SupTitle'-plugin
    • avisynth: mma2 filter
    • avisynth: version.txt file to make sure the current avisynthExtension version is used
    • avisynth: added format="YUV422P8" to LWLibAVVideoSource-call if input color space sampling isn't 4:2:0
    • chapter: import of mkvextracts chapter files
    • cosmetics: make sure to switch to Main-tab after loading a GlobalProfile
    • cosmetics: taskbar-icon progress indication on Win Vista/7
    • cosmetics: jumping cursor while editing tags
    • input: mplayer analyse call for .webm-content
    • input: 5.1 audio sometimes was detected as 2.0 (due to change in MediaInfo cli output)
    • fontconfig: move font cache to %APPDATA%/fontconfig/cache instead of %TEMP%fontconfig/cache
    • model: FilteringModel wasn't always saved properly
    • tools: ffmpeg version in last release had problems with WinXP
    • vp9: tile limits were off

Thanks! I'll try the new version. How exactly do I make Hybrid portable? I tried the instructions but there is no W2K version to add to the Hybrid folder. I assume I just need the older dlls for XP SP3? I've already installed visual studio vb 2010 redistributable and net framework is up to date..

Also, when I add the avisynth plugins folder, there are four files. Two dlls and two exe files. When I copy those to the Hybrid folder, it asks if I want to overwrite the existing files which are much larger. Am I supposed to say yes? I have been doing that.

  24. Fixed the instructions.
Win2k is not supported anymore. (since most of the tools Hybrid uses, dropped the support for it)

OK, I'll look at your website for new instructions. I like to keep a copy of Hybrid in my C:\Tools folder which makes it easier for Virtualdub to find any encoders that I might want to use from the Hybrid folder.

I installed the new version. It starts without crashing but I now get this error...

"C:\Program Files\Hybrid\vpxenc.exe" didn't get started after 5 seconds -> aborting... Restarting Hybrid might solve the problem,... Cause might also be incompatibility with the tool and your system.

I thought you were going to implement the vp8vp927072013 vpxenc32.exe that you asked about on Doom9. Is the one you're using a better encoder or is it basically the same one?

  26. Should be the same one (just renamed) unless I mixed them up when I set up the release,..
    -> will check

  27. damn, mixed something up,.. will repack the windows packages and installer
Problem should be fixed in 20min. (since I can't upload faster)

Hey Selur, I tried to download avisynthExtension on your site, but testing the 7z archive is an Error by saying Unsupported compression method for all files that are in the folder 'avisynthPlugins'. Try redownload twice but all the same error..!
Could you please to fix this? Thanks in advance.

  29. What did you use for extraction?
Just downloaded myself and successfully extracted the file with 7zip 9.2 (http://sevenzip.sourceforge.net/) and WinRar 4.2 (http://www.rarlab.com/).
