Hi there, I hope someone out there can help a somewhat seasoned newbie with a strange problem.
I better start with the specs of my system. It comprises of:
Athlon XP2000+
256MB DDR RAM
10Gig Maxtor 7200 HDD
60Gig IBM 7200 HDD
AIW RADEON
SB LIVE
(Capturing from Digital TV and Video on Demand)
So, I'm capturing seemingly well in Win98SE, with Virtual Dub and Huffy codec at 720x576 with about 10%-12% CPU usage and thankfully, about 1 dropped frame for every 15-20 mins of captured footage. Now, trying the same thing in Win2000 or XP creates a strange audio problem. The video capture is absolutely fine with NO dropped frames at all, but a strange, static clicking sound akin to that heard from Vinyl records runs throughout the capture. Yet, this never occurs when capturing with 98. Has anyone ever come across this problem and does anyone have a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

I get the same thing with my virtualdub cap of Angel Eyes VHS on xp pro. It has noticeable static in the sound going on and off. Is this some sort of macro blocking on the sound? radeon64vivo.

Hmm... how strange... I don't remember reposting this... as I posted the original question about a month ago.... hmmm....
Anyway, as it's here, unfortunately the latency patch didn't change things, neither did swapping the PCI ports for the sound card...
So, I'm sticking with 98SE as it's perfect for all my capture needs. I would still love to move on from it though, to XP, but I guess I'll have to wait till I get a new capture card.
Thanks for the help anyway!!!
