Hey this is my first time on this forum so sorry if any of this sounds stupid... I can already tell this has probably been posted, sorry if so.
Anyways, I'm looking for a great/the "best" capture card. Yes it's for my 360, and recording my PC screen if possible?
Price is not an issue whatsoever but I don't want to go over like $300. So if there is something that you would recommend over the Blackmagic then please tell me. Well to the point.
I keep seeing all these post about RAID setups with the Blackmagic Intensity Pro and how people have to have them. I kinda know what RAID is but not to the fullest extent. But my point is, my computer has a 128GB SSD that I use for my OS, Games, and most used programs including the Adobe Suite. And a 1TB Hitachi 7200RPM Sata 6GB, 32MB Cache that I use for Firefox, basic programs, and misc stuff like my videos and pictures. I was wondering, would the BlackMagic Pro be good for me? My motherboard is a Sabertooth X79 LGA 2011 with i7-3820 CPUOr should I go for something else?
It also says it's Adobe After Effects integrated? What does that mean? Oh and can it record my PC screen?
***I'm just looking for the most ridiculous quality I can get for my 360/The new xbox whenever that releases and my PC screen. Ill be getting my cap card this Christmas if that helps (say if a new model is announced or something and I should get that instead).
Just looking for general advice in my situation, I appreciate it a lot, THANKS!

Please note that I am NOT a gamer and I do NOT do gaming captures.
Check out the following Hauppauge card:
http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr-gaming.html
Again, I have no personal experience, but I read some reviews that suggested that if you buy the BlackMagic that you will also have to buy another device to remove HDMI encryption. The Hauppauge device records from component video, which has no encryption. I've got the Hauppauge Colossus card, which is in the same product family, and it's excellent. I think you would probably be happy with the results of this device.
Now that I've made a suggestion, I would like to ask you something. Why do you care about recording PS3 game play? I know that a lot of people like to do this, but WHY? I truly do not understand this at all. To me, this is about as exciting as watching grass grow. Do you actually re-watch old game plays? If so, why? Do you actually watch other people's videos when they play games? If so, again, why? Do you learn things from these videos that help you to play better or is that you just simply like to watch anybody play games? I am really curious as to why anyone would want to do this so I hope you don't mind to explain to me why you are motivated to do something that to me honestly is beyond my comprehension as to why so many people would want to do. -
Yea Ill look into that. And be glad to answer your question.
Well first off you basically answered it yourself by saying "I am not a gamer". If you are not then you probably can't understand no matter how much I explain it but ill try to use some metaphors. Well to start off let's use a different category, say... Filming/Editing? If you are a aspiring film editor most people would like to view works that others post on youtube like video's by colleges and stuff. You learn how they did it and it's entertaining to watch. Say a breakdown of a scene from Transformers or something with a lot of CGI. Same with gaming. Gamers do like to watch other people's Montages because it's entertaining. Sure some are down right stupid (*cough CoD kids who exploit a dumb glitch and quickscope and think it's skill) but most are video's of people showing off some of there best kills and put it to the beat of music. Film enthusiast like watching filming/editing videos; Music artist like watching covers and music videos; Gamers like watching Montages and game videos. Do we always watch old gameplays? No. But we do like to take our best stuff and show it off. People give you props and it's a circle effect. Also it's just fun to do. Final metaphor I could put it in is like a sport. Football is about as exciting to me as watching grass grow but people like it. It's like watching a montage of "Best sport moments" like a hole in one or amazing touchdown. Same thing with gaming. Re-Watch amazing moments but instead of a sport it's a game.
I could rant forever but I hope this helped. -
jman98, I am with you on this one. Another example, I simply can not see the point of people standing, in all weather, at the end of a railway platform taking note of each and every train that passes through.
But we better get back on topic....
Capture cards do NOT record a PC screen. All you need for that is screen-capture software.
Your card will capture the stream from the games console BEFORE it arrives on the screen.
