Since http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.php ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayer-win32/files/ ) seems to be dead (due to a hdd crash on Gianluigi Tiesi system), Kovensky (http://kovensky.project357.com/) isn't building MPlayer&Mencoder builds for quite some time now, lachs0r is only building mplayer2 (http://mplayer2.srsfckn.biz/), I was wondering:
Is anyone out there frequently building mplayer&mencoder win32 builds for the public?
(with basic plugins like xvid, x264, lame,..)
Cu Selur
Ps.: think I found one: http://www.paehl.com/open_source/?Convert_Tools:MPLAYER_MENCODER
PPs.: if someone knows another one please post

Maybe you should try to convince Reimar to set up an autobuilder for Win32
At least your German is surely much better than mine
As for the builds by Dirk Paehl... perhaps things have improved a lot lately,
but I still prefer avoiding them like the plague. -
no clue about the other stuff he provides on his page, but at least the mplayer/mencoder seem to be okay and not 'fishy' or anything,.. (I'm not sure what the state is atm, but his builds contain faac,.. and I thought there was some license issue with providing static builds with faac in it,..)

yup stumbled over that one a few days ago, problem is newest build is buggy for me,.. posted a commend there

Many big THANKS for that.
Now his builds are the only thing I need for flawless playback of those pesky RMVB files.

Mplayer is FASTER than MPC-HC or PotPlayer, because it doesn't depend on a GUI.
The DirectShow RM splitter and decoders apparently "love" to drop frames, even when the machine is not too slow and/or the video resolution is not too high.
ffdshow accepts connecting to RealMediaSplitter.ax, but its (lack of) performance does suck.
LAV Video and MPC Video Decoder perform okay when connected to the MPC RealMedia splitter, BUT something just makes them lose sync with the audio.
Probably one won't have these issues unless their rig is "old enough".Last edited by El Heggunte; 25th Jan 2013 at 10:37.

@ El Heggunte. okay. have you tried Mplayer2? http://www.mplayer2.org/downloads/ I like the installer for the 64 bit version for Windows and Linux. http://smplayer2.srsfckn.biz/min_install.exe

Well, IMNSHO, the builds by lachs0r are decent enough, BUT:
1) their default video output is "direct3d", which I don't like ;
2) no more builds without fontconfig
3) their last update happened nearly 8 months ago
4) lachs0r himself is just an elaborate TROLL

Just for the notes --- Sherpya's builds are back ^__^
http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.php
And Redxii's builds have moved house to Sourceforge.net:

Thanks for the infos.
Sherpya's builds are not really interesting to me, since they lack 'libbluray'-support.
Also I switched to building ffmpeg/mplayer/... for Windows myself using: https://github.com/jb-alvarado/media-autobuild_suite
