  1. I render videos in vegas pro and the format that shoots out is mpeg2 and ac3. I need to combine the two and convert those into a mp4 program so I can upload them to a server provider... Without using dvd architect or modifying my vegas pro out puts can this be done with freeware software etc? If so what is it?

    Thanks in Advance!

MP4's definitions got changed a few years ago and AC3 is now fully supported. You should not have to change the audio at all. If your provider only accepts AAC audio then they are not up to date with the standard.

I think Handbrake could possibly work with your output and generate H.264 video and (if you must have it) AAC audio.

  3. huh... if i install and open handbrake does the program allow me to select the the mpeg2 file and the ac3 file, stitch them together, and convert it to mp4?

No, handbrake won't stitch anything together.
Explain what you mean by an "mpeg2 file" and an "ac3 file".

  5. Batt999 - the way vegas outputs the rendered video I get a mpeg and acc file. exact example: I compile 6 skydive clips in vegas and it outputs to a selected folder as skydive.mpeg and skydive.acc. Then DVD Architect burns it to DVD. But my online back up folks require the video to be in .mp4 format to upload to them. What I'm hoping to find is a program that will stitch them back together and convert it into a .mp4 format. Or two separate programs, one to stitch and one to convert...

This is a weird set up - I know - but I can't alter the set up. Any pointers in the right direction?

    OK, I understand.
But I'm not going to make any suggestions about software because I have no samples.

Maybe someone will come along who has experience with vegas program.

of course you can alter the vegas settings. use the original source, change the render as setting to mainconcept avc(vegas 11 pro) or sony avc(vegas 10 pro or earlier). that will give you templates for .mp4 video to choose from. converting from the mpeg-2 will cause a drop in quality with the second render.

  8. aedipuss - heres the hiccup... Because we shoot, edit, render, and burn so many dvd's on any given sat or sunday we bought a program called Swoopware which takes care of almost the entire process for us. It's a new system for us but it turns a 30-40 minute job into a 7 minute job. The kicker is we can't alter the parameters of vegas or dvd architect bc swoopware utilizes both programs and has specific settings. So I'm left trying to convert the end result to .mp4 somehow so I can upload them to our online server.

search the tools section. get a muxing program, mux the video and audio together, then use an x264 encoder to produce mp4.
