  3. Sometimes I'll use gamma in steps to denoise very dark video. Denoising the original dark video eliminates all detail in the dark areas, denoising after a full gamma adjustment doesn't work well because the noise is too strong. Adjusting the gamma half way then denoising then adjusting the gamma the rest of the way sometimes works better.

    I've also used gamma adjustment to enhance details in dark areas, denoised, then pulled the gamma back down.

    See now THAT'S an answer. Thanks jag. In all honesty, I forgot about this thread. I just bumped into it and hijacked it for fun. But this is still the answer I was looking for at the time.
