I'm trying to convert DivX files to VCD using TMPGenc.
With two different DivX files, I get the same error in TMPGenc when I start the conversion:
An Error Occurred when Audio was Decoded
What does that error mean? How can I get around it?
The files both play just fine in Windows Media player in DivX. The audio on both is MP3 audio.
I also tried to let Nero do the conversion and it also came back with an error, though much less descriptive.
Thanks!
Lex

ok.found some posts in the search about this.
Didn't know TMPGEnc couldn't convert mp3 audio.
Nero is the same way?
Why wouldn't either program add that? Is there a plugin available for either to convert mp3 audio?
Are there any other programs that can convert a DivX file with MP3 audio directly to VCD?
I've only got a 400Mhz machine so doing one conversion and then doing a second one is REAL slow.
Thanks!

extract the .wav audio using virtual dub first, then use that as the audio source for TMPG--extracting the wav should take 10 minutes or less

That's usually not the case?
If I split the audio and video, can I no longer use nero to do the conversion? -
You can extract the wav or open the file in Vdub, look under the FILE INFORMATION under FILE. Down near the bottom you'll see a perload skew ie .13 ms in parantheses.
The better way I found how to do it is simply load the clip in TMPG w/o stripping the wav, then go to your SOURCE RANGE filter and add this value at the bottom where it says AUDIO DELAY (use arrows to adjust as it doesn't hold a typed entry).
This has solved all synch issues and avvoided using the seperated wav & vid stream combo.~~~Spidey~~~

1) You can open the file in Virtual Dub select direct stream in Video and select Full Prossesing mode in Audio and select another audio compresion or none then select save as avi in the file menu and you will have a new avi with another audio format then use TMPENC or Nero.
2) I had Audio problems in the past too because some DIVX were at 11000 hz mono and after encoding it the sound was terrible, so after readding a lot TMPGENC doesnt do a good job changing the frecuensy. For this you could use SSRC.exe and TooLame.exe (for this go to Options in TMPGENC then Enviromental Tools and then External Tools.
Toolame.exe is the Command line program and its difficult to find for the Win32 and for SSRC.exe you should look for Shibata http://www.geocities.co.jp/Technopolis/9674/ssrc/ -

Why? -
Figured it out from using search.
I had the DivX 5 codec, but no longer had DivX3.11 and DivX4. I figured as long as I had 5 it could do anything, guess not.
I loaded 3.11 then 4 then 5 again and all works.
On to my next problem:) (see new post)
Thanks! Great forum here.
