I have a Sony HandyCam TVrv480. Usually, I don't have a problem connecting. I think it may have to do with some check box on Options->Preference. Something to do with enable, but I don't see any such choice.

It looks as though something is wrong with the socket where the firewire is plugged into. Might have to send this to Sony. A visual inspection of the outside shows no damage to the 5-6 copper strips. I could fire my Canon camcorder up OK on Vegas.
